Whoever said Skynet would never happen never saw OOTP mass release players.

We'll get confirmation/validation of your foreboding theory if the same thing happens to FM 26 players when that game releases...

Staying the course

The games I play are historical, and have become more interesting and more fun since the Negro Leagues players have been more available to sign, trade, and play on MLB teams. Historical fiction, but entertaining to manage and watch.
This kind of problem is why I always play without minor leagues or financials. Both are headaches I choose not to have. I was frustrated by having to put whatever MLB season on hold because the Toledo Mudhens or the Podunk Pioneers had roster problems. It seems like most of the hiring and firing takes place at the minor league level, so I don't often encounter these issues.
I have issues that I'd like to see addressed, too. I'm enjoying OOTP 26 despite any issues I have. I also like the OOTP community a lot as well.

Just curious... are the Negro League players included in the trade database and we can use it as in real life or everything is, sadly, fictional?

It's already October.

Five years ago Com2Us acquired 100% of OOTP Developments.

Looking at the Com2Us website, I see

MLB 9 Innings 25
MLB 9 Innings GM
MLB Perfect Inning 25
MLB Rivals

but no OOTP.

Interesting.

i think you might be reading too much into that. i think that's just likely a marketing/branding positioning choice - they're all mobile platform games aren't they?

Would it be interesting to note that "sign and release" was an issue way before Com2Us acquired OOTP? One could argue that sign and release, before this latest patch bug, was greatly improved after Com2Us acquired OOTP. I wouldn't but someone could. With or without Com2Us sign and release issues came up. With or without Com2Us sign and release issues were going to be worked on and improved/fixed. Every time they were worked on there was going to be a chance of introducing a bug.

The current issue is a bug introduced in one of the last couple of patches. Before those patches sign/release was in good shape. Go to your reports page and look at "major transactions" and you will see maybe 5-10 that are MLB injured list moves and scouting discoveries. Now open "all transactions" and the report will balloon to a point the game has to open the report in your browser. Yeah, those are all MiLB transactions. A feature for v26 was adding better minor league management by the cpu teams which was working fairly well up to the latest patch. Best guess is while trying to tune that further they broke minor league transactions.

This isn't a Com2Us issue, it is a bug in a patch issue.

You are right it is a "nothing burger".

Yes, I agree with you that the sign and release problem isn't a Com2Us issue.

The lack of meaningful responses by the OOTP development team during the past month is concerning.

I looked at the Com2Us website out of curiosity, since it's been the parent company/owner of OOTP for the past five years.

Com2Us appears to be 100% focused on mobile games.

But we have OOTP Go, which is the mobile platform version of the game they own.

Not a single mention of anything related to OOTP.

I found that very odd.

An idle guess but perhaps their developing all of those games internally and leaving OOTP to operate independently as a subsidiary?
I don't care enough to look into the development of each of those games but it's possible that their content to have OOTP manage their branding entirely on their own as long as revenues remain solid.

Edit: Looking further, they have exclusive ownership of several games presently operating and available that are not listed on their site. OOTP is not the only development studio they own whose products are entirely absent. So I wouldn't read much into this.

At the best of my knowledge OOTP was never listed on their website so nothing new here... just non-sense "it's the end of the world" talk.
