I started my second season on build 26.7.77 in single-player GM/Manager mode (Cubs). My season started on April 1st 2026 and I simmed through April 14th.

During those first 14 days of the season, 1574 players were released and 894 were signed by the thing pretending to be an AI. The vast majority of the signings and releases were minor leaguers who should be at AAA, AA, or A+.

For anyone interested, I attached a PDF file with all transactions from 1-14 April.

This game is broken and there is silence from the developers.

I'm sorry OOTP, but you've just lost me. I will be uninstalling the game. I'm not sure what happened after Markus left, but this has been incredibly disappointing. What a shame.

The silence from the OOTP team is so odd. I used to see them respond and comment regularly. Now, it is rare.

I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt and say that they've gone silent in an attempt to put their heads down and not consider outside noise. They've got enough things to fix right now, so I'm not sure that responding on the forums would be productive. I'm not playing the game right now but would look forward to picking it up soon if these issues are patched.

As I posted in the other thread I am seeing similar numbers. Many days there are enough transactions that the scroll bar won't work. But at the end of the day in my game none of these players have any real affect on MLB. Does that make it ok? No, but in my game some player histories looking terrible is the worst outcome of this current situation. I use the option to delete players that retire but have never played in MLB, so those histories were never going to be a permanent part of my game anyway. Though disappointing it is an outcome I can live with for the way I play. It's not good but it's not enough for me to give up on OOTP. Others play differently and their milage will certainly vary.

You're right this part of the game is broke meaning it's not a design decision.
The current release/sign situation was not an issue before one of the latest patches. All I had to do was look at transactions from my early season compared to late season to see transactions go from numbers like 6 sign and 5 releases per day to numbers like the OP has posted. This makes me think this one issue is going to be an "easy" fix. If nothing else they could just go back to the previous code.

Matt has posted they intend one more patch and want to get as many issues "fixed" as they can. Is it taking a long time? Yes. Would another update be nice to read? Sure. But at the end of the day it's only going to repeat the "we're working on a final patch" statement and add nothing of substance to the conversation unless they can say when the patch will be out with certainty. I like that they are taking the time they are and not putting out a hurried final patch that gives a quick fix for this and leaves other things out. I understand that may not be "good enough" for other users, and that is fine. We all have limits on what we can take and if you have reached yours, uninstalling the game is probably the best thing to do.

Many times in software development you'll introduce a problem when fixing a problem. The worst things you can do then is rush to fix it and create another problem because it becomes harder to backtrack. If they're taking their time to try to understand the issues they're doing the exact right thing.

Thank God I always play historical with real transaction / injury / lineup since I never see that non-sense... I'd lose my mind playing fictional / MLB after 2025 living that "AI" crazyness.

I get why you and others are taking a break.

I'm playing through it because it isn't affecting teams on the MLB level. It is ugly but from what I have seen it is only marginal minor league players being shuffled about. Another thing that favors me in playing on is my slow style of play. I manage every inning of every game. This means the issue for me didn't start until late August/early September in my first season. At the present time I'm only three weeks into April of season two.

I'd guess the patch will be sooner rather than later, though I'll have no problem being patient and allowing them to get it right.

The tried to fix a fundamental problem that is very hard to fix, and in their first attempt they ended up with this unintended consequence of excessive player movement.

In a complex game like OOTP, taking a big step forward usually involves momentarily taking a step back. The development team are always fixing things, so patience pays off.

I would argue that leaving the roster decisions to other teams/AI has been a problem for a long time. It makes things more tedious, but I choose to go to League Settings->Set All Computer teams to not allow AI Roster changes as soon as i set up a new save file

To be honest, this--the AI minor league managers releasing and signing players over and over, with no apparent reason--has been an issue for a very long time. It's best to not give the AI control over signing and releasing players. It adds to the micromanagement needed to get through a season, but it reduces the human player's frustration.

In my most extreme cases, such as with the settings I mentioned above, I do it all. I would rather screw something up myself than have to undo what I think is ridiculous that the AI did. As tedious as it can sometimes be, I devote more attention to major league rosters/injuries/40 man's than the minors. Check in on minors every so often to see who needs injured list, or promoted/demoted.

Bobfather's post looks a lot like every transaction log I've seen where I'm not controlling it, and I think it looks ridiculous. I haven't had a chance to play much lately, and from the sounds of it, it's worse somehow!

I'm glad Antonin agrees because I always thought of myself as being too silly for doing so. It means I miss out on some of the new trading features which matter one day out of the game calendar year. But it's a tradeoff I'll make so I don't have people being signed and released indiscriminately

It's not been like this with multiple hundreds of transactions per day. Until this bug reared it's head in these latest patches I haven't been frustrated at any time with transactions in my game.

Not allowing the AI to run it's own teams would ruin my solo game. The AI run teams for the last few versions have actually done a pretty good job of not doing sign/release, both in number and quality of signings. With my flow of play I look at the "all transaction" report on a daily basis and up to the bug introduced in the latest patches there wasn't much one could complain about.

I started my second season on build 26.7.77 in single-player GM/Manager mode (Cubs). My season started on April 1st 2026 and I simmed through April 14th.

During those first 14 days of the season, 1574 players were released and 894 were signed by the thing pretending to be an AI. The vast majority of the signings and releases were minor leaguers who should be at AAA, AA, or A+.

For anyone interested, I attached a PDF file with all transactions from 1-14 April.

This game is broken and there is silence from the developers.


I'm sorry OOTP, but you've just lost me. I will be uninstalling the game. I'm not sure what happened after Markus left, but this has been incredibly disappointing. What a shame.

They don't care at all, it seems. I feel cheated out of my money.
