League Structure Question

I am starting a league with a mix of 30 actual historical teams, of which I will manage one. This will be a one-and-done to see which is the best, so no finances, drafts, coaches, trades, etc. How do I set this up so that players are used their actual (or close to it) amount of PAs and IP, and in their real-life roles, by the AI that they were on their real team? Also, assuming this is doable, should I play with no injuries?

I've played a handful of games as a trial and quickly saw several starter-only pitchers being used in relief. Also spotted a batter that went 0-for-6 in his entire real-life season hit five HRs in his first eight games! So either this can't be done or I missed something in the set-up.

Drop the talent randomness to zero?

You probably need to go into league settings and tune the manager tendencies to fit what you envision for your league.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!

Niu354: I could restart the league and try this if I am actually given this option in this league structure. My concern is the league won’t have a pool of players from which to enact transactions. For example, if the real-life 1927 Yankees acquired a player from the Red Sox in July, where would the game find that player to add since the 1927 Red Sox are not in this league?

Millhousbc: Good thought, but while setting talent randomness to zero will surely make players perform most realistically, I don’t think it will affect how much they are used by the AI and in what roles, right?

Mytreds: Could you be more specific? As far as I can tell, these settings affect only how AI managers use their players strategically and how they manage a game, but not how much they use their players and in what roles.

What I'm trying achieve is having players approximate their actual PAs, IPs and roles as closely as possible. Again using the 1927 Yankees as an example, I’d want Ben Paschal to be used somewhere close to his actual 87 PAs, but not be used much more often just because he had a good .898 OPS. And I’d want Wilcy Moore to make roughly his actual 12 pitching starts, not more than that just because he led the team with a 2.28 ERA. I don't see any settings that would do this, unless I’m totally overlooking something.

It doesn’t seem that the type of league I want – one with select actual historical teams fighting it out to see which is the best – would be so unusual that the game can’t accommodate it. But idk.
