Spring Training Help

I am about to start another season. It is spring training. I hate managing ST games, which, for the most part, are meaningless. (I might have one roster spot in contention, and I will use ratings to fill that, or maybe it is a pitcher/hitter thing. When I sim, I notice some players not getting enough playing time. They might not be the best player, but they have a Major League contract. Also, the AI screwed up my pitching staff last year. I would like to set and forget. If I fill in a lineup, I notice players being overused; if I leave everything blank, the wrong players get used. I don't want to mess around with lineups and depth charts and fatigue. So if anyone can make spring training simple for me, I would appreciate it. Also, how often do you make cuts? If it were up to me, I would sim it in 10 minutes and start the season. I did try not having ST, and the first month of the season was crazy. I thought that at least the AI would eliminate the rust factor, especially for pitchers..

I simply set a lineup, and pick 9 other players i want to develop in Spring Training. I put 1 backup per position on the depth charts with "play every 2nd game"...that way every other game the lineups are being switched around with the guys i want getting ABs. I put everyone in the bullpen as middle relief except a few guys long relief that i want to get innings...long relief in spring training seems to get the most IPs out of the bullpen. The guys I plan on having in the back end of my bullpen I mark as Set Up with 6th inning or later...i may have 3-4 guys there, and 3-4 guys in long relief...and then the rest in middle relief..which is the majority.

Even though I set my depth charts this way, i still have plenty of other guys on my spring training roster..but they just won't get nearly as many ABs as people in my Lineup or Depth Charts. I find this is the easiet way to set up a fast sim. In the regular season i play out each at bat but spring training i just quick sim game by game...adjusting things if there is an injury

My ST roster has all players with a contract, plus players who are high in potential, but their current ability does not warrant them a mlb roster spot. Starting pitchers pitch 3 innings, relievers pitch 1-2 depending when their lineup spot comes (I don’t do DH). I double switch when appropriate. I set lineups so position players play every other day.

I don’t really base cuts on ST performance. I already know my starting lineups before ST begins. I’ll only use ST stats when I have borderline players vying for a spot.
