Huge Draft Pool Problem in 26
Just wondering has all leagues seen an explosion of draftable players being completely ready to jump into the big leagues?
MLB trends means usually 1 or 2 guys are able to jump to MLB and normally their play will not be that strong .. off of the top of my head in last 10 years I can really only think of Skenes and Bregnan as guys that made that jump and excelled early. I just looked at our last fictional draft and this is INSANE! 48 guys drafted in the 2055 season have already made the bigs and posted positive WAR and we are just into May of the 2056 season. And looking at our upcoming draft pool I would not be surprised if this happens again with this new class. So why is OOTP 26 creating such powerful, ready to play draft classes? That has to be a mistake from the developers no? |

Perhaps it was a bit of an overcorrection. Most college players were getting put in rookie ball and languishing there because they had like 25 Current ratings so the devs upped the Current ratings for college players, which was appreciated. But perhaps they might want to dial it back a notch. Realistically I would say most early-round college players should come in at 30/35 Current, with the occasional 40 (or even 45) for a guy like Skenes. I think it could also be that the real life draft classes (25, 26, 27) were coming in really underpowered, which maybe wasn't affecting the fictional ones as much, leading the fictional draft classes to be overpowered? Changing the player creation modifiers might help for now? Last edited by ChrisG; 09-10-2025 at 10:18 PM. |

Can a developer respond on this and is there any changes in the works that will dial this problem back down so not as many prospects are fully baked in the draft?

This is our current draft class .. no way there should be that many prospects already maxed out to their potential and ready to go in the bigs!

I just launched a new game with the new patch and am not seeing this. Top current is a 24 yr old pitcher 35/41, and the players with the most potential are 22-26/70. Is there a chance that the league that all players ratings are relative too possible not your Major League? I've had that happen once or twice. I've also never been 30 years deep in a sim with the new patches.

I don't think so .. last draft looked this way as well and as I said we have already had 50+ draftees make their debuts before this draft has even started

Seeing that as well in first draft after patching the game. Crazy.

Now 21-22 years old draftees seem to be developed way out of whack.

I have not noticed this though and I am playing a fictional league in 2040. Probably check your player creation modifiers to make sure you don't have it set too high. If that's normal you should probably tone it down as a temporary fix to make draftees weaker |

Here's another odd thing.
In our settings we have it generate players for 23 rounds. Our draft is 20 rounds for total of 560 picks (although always less with teams losing picks for comp players). Our draft pool has 2360 players! WTF! Where do we even change the settings on the quality of the draftees? |

Wyatt Langford, Zach Neto and Nolan Schanuel as well (the latter a rare in-year debut). 50 OVR is definitely too high aside from maybe a once-in-a-generation player. But I feel like each draft should realistically have one or two 40 OVR college guys conceivably on track to be ready to debut sometime during the following season, maybe a 45 OVR on occasion. |

Mine seems somewhere in between, I haven't played far enough to see how they all develop, but I was happy to see some 40 overall college players. I've got no one over that (20/80 scale obviously). Just a standard draft setup on normal game, 2038 but I going a bit before the patch that 'fixed' it.
Older versions always had some higher ranked college players, and starting last year or so it was extremely rare to find anyone able to play above FCL/ACL in the top 10. |

Registered to post this issue. Will share screenshots when home, but fictional draft is packed with MLB ready players.
I was thinking of starting a new save but saw something about broken drafts on Reddit. Ran a test save, deleted the real life prospect pool so it would generate a new one, and there were double digit players ready to be in MLB that moment. I'm not talking a few "40" players which is realistic, I mean multiple 50 ovr players and more than that with 80 potential. I can wave off most issues with AI as "it's a game" but this is game breaking. I may go back to OOTP25 until this is addressed. |

Here are the draft pools, one with my scout and one the OOTP scout.
https://ibb.co/9mKD2ZTv https://ibb.co/CsVjzv8s This is not a bit out of balance, it's broken. |

Yeah maybe the pendulum swung a bit too much...but I'm sure that's something they can and will tweak. Have you tried adjusting your player creation modifiers in the meantime? See what happens if you do like .925 or .950 on everything for instance. |

Exactly. The game was certainly generating underdeveloped 20-23 year-old draftees and that was a concern, but last patch has gone way too far. First round is NBAesque right now.

Is there a way I could in OOTP25 save a draft pool and upload it into OOTP26? The fictional player drafts '25 felt very balanced to me. I like the OOTP26 first draft of real players (Holliday, Willits, and others). I'm just very worried about subsequent drafts. |

I don't think it would have to be .700. I'll put it at like .950 or .970 and I get way fewer 80 POT IAFA guys for example. The ratings bump did seem to help a bit with the real-life draftees from the 25/26/27 pools less likely to be stuck in AZ/FL. I think it's probably just thrown the fictional draftees out of whack. I think those were less of a problem in the first place. |
