See my post before the 2 pages of political mumbo jumbo. TBG has made absurd posts from day one and doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt. He's shown no proof at all and has no credibility to begin with.

Just one comment here.

My wife and I are blessed with good jobs, and our gross income for this calendar year will be between 92 and 93 thousand dollars.

The tax breaks that Bush's administration had completed have not worked their way down to me. I don't make enough money!!!

I mean, WTF! This is THE most elitist government group in the history of the American political scene.

FACT: The surplus was given away to the rich.

FACT: Student loan programs have been slammed.

FACT: The military (I am a 20 veteran of the Air Force, and to quote RUSH, "AND YOU KNOW I'M RIGHT!) has been slashed from 2.2 million to 1.5 million, and then tasked to complete military objectives for which they are not trained.

FACT: The 4th Armored Division is now in a peacekeeping role. Their TOE (supply loadout) doesn't even have enough rifles for each man on patrol!!!! They have to use captured AK's.

What kind of ****ed up government can't even furnish their troops with a ****ing rifle when they are on street patrol?

Bush apologists....answer that one for me!!!

Gentlemen
Please stop this.
This is a BOXING SITE.

If you want to discuss politics fine, but please do it in private or maybe by email.
There are other sites for this sort of thing. We all have our own views on the subjects your discussing but be fair this is not the place to air them

Thanks Gentlemen.
Danny

No kidding, take it elsewhere, if meade is so worried about the original topic of discussion i.e. a free game for badguy or whatever the heck his name is, then he should purchase it for him. No one needed to stand up for, or against the gentleman who felt he was due a free upgrade, let him and the Trunzo's duke it out, so to speak. Take this politics crap someplace else, and get this forum back to helping others, and suggestions for improving the game.

Great suggestion. Meade, I hope you're paying attention.

dsvitak - Let's just assume 93,000 income for you and your wife.

I don't know if you itemize or not, but its not important for what I'm about to show you.

Tax before most recent tax cut.....

Income 93000
Standard Deduction 8000
Exemptions 6200
Taxable Income 78800
Tax 15065

Tax after most recent tax cut
Income 93000
Standard Deduction 9500
Exemptions 6200
Taxable Income 77300
Tax 12939

In this calculation very simplified but a true example, the most recent tax cut has saved you $2,126. (If you don't want it send it to me). That is actually a 14% savings and also 2.3% of your total income. Those are some pretty significant savings. In addition, the prior tax cut saved you money as well. This plan wasn't just for the rich, or for those with kids, or for those paying education costs. It was for every American taxpayer. Tax rates went down across the board. Its impossible not to pay less tax under this law than the previous. And with a good tax planning and if you can't handle it yourself, and its a bit obvious in this case, contact a tax advisor, I'm sure they would be willing to share additional ways to take advantage of the recent tax legislation to save additional money.

How on earth can my tax liability be $2100 LESS, on $1500 less taxable income?

Even at 42%, the tax hit for the extra 1500 dollars would be only $630. Funny math....just like the Republican administration.

First of all, my net income was reduced by a mammoth 43 thousand dollars, and I filed (last year) on around 80K or so.

My tax liability was (is) considerably less than you indicate....in fact, after all was said and done, my wife and I paid in (and DIDN'T get back) 9.8% of our gross income.

My point is not that I have been able to structure my finances to deflect the taxman (401(k), 403(b), LARGE mortgage interest deduction, etc.). My point is that the wealthy received a dis-proportionate share of the redistribution of wealth.

As others have mentioned, this is a boxing forum....lets not spar here...

I am a liberal in a conservative world. There are Bush apologists, whom I feel are not well educated on the issues facing this country...not limited to the tax breaks, but to the abomination which is the "Patriot Act" and other, just as reprehensible programs/policies.

Hey Dsvitak...

I would love to continue this discussion with you via regular email if you'd like.

You are terribly ill-informed. And you suggest those who support Bush are. I'm willing to have a civil debate on the facts with you.

Email me...

You are dead wrong on the tax cuts. Your taxes went down. This is a fact. I make, 34,000 a year...and last year I saved close to $1100 . This is a fact.

If you want to suggest taxes don't need to be cut....That is one thing (and fine to argue...though, history will not be an ally for you)...but to try and use disinformation...such as only the Rich got the tax cuts....That is a lie (and a lie, obviously because the facts bother you or your agenda).

I am far from rich and my taxes were cut.

Also, the military was cut by Clinton. 3 whole Army divisions were cut (plus equipment was cannibalized .....thus, making inventory plumment (while not having to show it on the books)...

And when I say 3 whole ARmy Divisions were cut...I mean completely removed from existence ...and this is not "blaming" Clinton...this is a simple fact and one answer to why the US military doesn't have such large stockpiles of supplies as we once did..

Another quick point. Those in the armed forces today...overwhelmingly support Bush. This is another fact, so I think they know who is looking out for them best. Odd that you would suggest it isn't Bush.

But again, I would love to have a civil debate on the issues....with only FACTS being used.

Dsvitak...

One more point. You mention Student loans. Gov't loans for college is what is causing cost to sky rocket!

This is the dirty little secret all over Universites across the country.

I graduated from Western Michigan University. At the time of my graduation, while doing a research project for an Econ class we looked into gov't funding at WMU. We found that 69% of the students at WMU were recieving some type of Federal Loan.

Your logic would show, without Gov't.....no one could afford college...and thus the need for more Gov't loans. Correct?

But the opposite is true. If Gov't STOPPED giving Student Loans....WMU (and all Universities) would have to do one of two things...(but first lets put this in layman terms)

At your local super market...if tomorrow...69% of their customers could no longer afford their products....what would your supermarket do? It would either, lower it's prices or go out of business....(and you would probably championing them going out of business....because of their evil profit making with such high prices...odd how this is never looked at with regard to college...the huge profits they make....oh, yeah, they are non-profit....Let's be adult...they are far from non profit).

And this is what Universities need to do! Either lower their prices or go out of business.....but, they sell (through great marketing) the NEED for HIGHER EDUCATION....and thus, those in Gov't look to run out and Buy votes...BY saying they will provide MORE student loans....(ahh, and all are happy...WRONG)...

What happens is skyrocketing costs.....and Universites keep the dirty secret of Gov't loans from having to either Lower their prices or go out of business!!

Meade...your parts are interesting, perhaps another day.

PittPanther, your comments are also noted....my offer for a night janitor position is still open for you....assuming you can complete the job application. You astound me with your wisdom.

Out of respect for the Trunzos, and this forum, I will stay ON TOPIC from now on.

Thanks for letting me ramble on....Meade, the OFF TOPIC forum would be an excellent forum for your views...pretty lively debates going on there.

OK after at least 10 requests to keep the discussion on boxing Meade has ignored and continued his narcisstic tripe commentary on everything under the sun. He is now easily the most obnoxis moron on the site (and that's saying something) and it needs to stop. Someone with some juice kill this thread and any other that goes on this ridiuculous path.

It also very clear to anyone with an IQ above 90 though Meade may not qualify that he in reality could care less about The Bad Guy- small bussiness's - America or anyone else it's all a cover to just be an obnoxis self inflated rude poster. It's a sham- in fact I would wager that both Bad Guy and Meade work together on many web sites just to grab the little attention and "moron" karma they can get- their playbook is straight out of WWE- Neither care about getting a free game they just want to stir people up- the saddest part of the Internet is it gives people like this the illusion that they matter and have important things to say- they don't and we need to quit feeding their illusions-

This thread stops here

KILL IT

someone take charge- 2 narcissistic losers can't run Title Bout- send them to their next troll stop

ps Meade is a pathological liar but is an accurate reflection of the great Western Michigan U- probably their most heralded alumnus- after all he makes $34,000 a year so the rest of us better shut up and learn something

Ribman, why don't you stop gyrating that gaping misplaced as*hole of a mouth on your face for a minute you gibbering witless gimp!

You are nothing more than a festering boil on a whore's a*s. It saddens me to read the words of an ineffably revolting blackguard, narccisistic, simple-minded tainted spawn of a syphilitic swamp-hog.

TheBadguy clearly deserves a free game you anal cretin!

Dsvitak, Best of health to you always.....Thanks for the discussion....

Ribman....your odd? ...especially with your statement

"OK after at least 10 requests to keep the discussion on boxing Meade has ignored and continued his narcisstic tripe commentary on everything under the sun."

The fact is...I only responded to exact questions posted to this exact thread!....gezz, do some reading of the thread itself....Or maybe that is your problem...things on a little more a mature level frustrate you...Grow up.

While understanding this is a boxing (first) website and message board...when a topic (other than boxing) comes up within a post...It seems adults can "handle" this....without screaming and crying to "stop this talk"....

GDE, DSVIAK, MMMRM , others and myself were taking a few seconds to post regrading off subject issues....Get over it.

Send your wife over. . .I'm sure I could find something to pay her for.

LOL, All this talk over a weasel trying to weasel a free game, and belive me I can smell one a mile away. Yea easiest thing is to give him the game (notice I didn't say honor the agreement, which there wasn't), but thats not the right thing to do. the right thing to do is for the weasel to buy the game.
If you give him the game I will never buy from OOTP again. because if you do, I've paid full price for the same game and you've ripped me off.
He's already had all the attention he so obvously craves. Ban him from the site

dvistak - I doublechecked the numbers. they are not fuzzy. They are dead on. The main difference is a leveling of the tax rates among single and married folks. Therefore, this year (2003) you are paying 10% on your first 14000 of taxable income, as opposed to 10% on your first 12000. This saves you $100. The next big factor is the 15% bracket increases to 56,800 from 47,450. So instead of paying 27% on that 9,350 - you pay only 15%. Savings of 1,122. Next, all of the income above 56800, or 20,500 saves an additional 2% as the tax rate in that bracket drops from 27 to 25%. Savings of 410. And finally, all of the income that is no longer taxable 1500, saves you an additonal $405. The total savings is 2,037. The difference is in the tables. And the fact that I used 2002 tables to originally show the difference and used projected 2003 tables for this example.

You are right, by investing into retirement accounts (which limits increased in this tax cut -- allowing you to save more of your money) and paying mortgage interest and real estate taxes, tithing to the church reduces all your income - therefore making your tax liability less. I didn't have those facts so I used the standard deduction. However, the fact remains that this is an across the board tax cut.

By your statement, you obviously don't understand how the U.S Tax system works. You think that all of your income is taxed at the same rate. It isn't. Consequently, when rates are cut, and bracket amounts increase, we all benefit. Conservatives, liberals, independents everyone. Its not a political issue.

I'm not trying to argue your political beliefs. I'm only trying to state facts here. I work with these numbers everyday. I see all income levels. I see everyone benefiting. And most of the time, benefiting proportionally. You hit a nerve when you said you got nothing from this tax cut. That is simply a false statement. I've demonstrated that for you. If you would like me to calculate exactly what this tax cut means to you and your wife, send me a private email at marcraffy@yahoo.com and I'll be glad to give you the facts particular to your situation.

Happy Holidays.
