How to create a fictional league with historical players?

Hi I am new to OOTP 26.

Have historically used the Diamond Mine to run our league and wanted to test something else out.

Would like to run a 16 team league with 2 divisions. I want to draft the teams from the MLB players for 2024. I'm having difficulty as every league that I have tried to create always only provides fictional player.

What am I doing wrong? Any and all help appreciated.

May be an easier way, but you could just create an historical league, release the players and delete the teams.

Create a historical 2024 league. Rename the teams to your choosing and you can also edit the league structure to your choice.

After the teams have been renamed and the structure adjusted, is there a way to get OOTP to re-generate the team logos? I find I end up with a bunch of logos that don't make sense with the renamed teams this way.

But is there a way to import historical players, or any player for that matter, say if you want Johnny Bench catching for Walter Johnson?
