One Pitch Mode Realism

When playing in one pitch mode, it seems that you cannot have at bats where the batter fouls off multiple pitches leading to 8+ pitch at bats, is this true?

Not true. I've seen multiple cases where there were 8+ pitches (one case of 12 pitches in the last couple of days).

No, those plate appearances do happen in one pitch. In older versions of the game each foul ball would show in the pbp and you would have to hit enter again until the AB was completed. I loved this as continually fouling off pitches meant an increased sense of tension. Of course somebody in the "vocal minority" complained "too many clicks" and so individual multiple foul ball pbp results were removed and those individual results and were rolled into whole AB pbp result.

If you are quickly hitting enter and going through ABs you won't notice them. If you have the pitch display widget open you can see how many pitches were actually thrown in the AB. The only other way to know is if you are paying attention to your P's pitch count and see it suddenly go from 40 to 55 over the course of one AB.

Wouldn't ball one, ball two, strike one, foul ball, foul ball, strike three create an even bigger sense of tension? If that kind of tension is desired, why not just play pitch by pitch? I personally don't want to hit enter 16 times to get through a single at bat. That being said, I play fast and hardly ever watch the 3D animations. Grew up playing games like Strat and APBA, so I just imagine what a groundout 6-3 or a popup 5 looks like.

The simplest answer to that question is.. "no". I'll leave it at that as it was changed many years ago and a detailed discussion is pointless.

No disagreement there. I will say this, routine at bat, I have zero interest in watching a guy foul off 17 pitches before popping out to SS. 2 outs, bases loaded, team down by 3, in the bottom of the 9th, a long fly down the line that just lands foul is a huge drama builder.

Add the pitch widget and you will see all the pitches in the AB even if you are playing one pitch mode.
