for those who do fictional expansion, what playoff format do you use?

I started a new standard game and expanded to 36 teams. For those who also expand the league, which format do you use for playoffs?

I just use the default set up but 35 years ago when I first started watching hockey, the NHL was 21 teams & 16 made playoffs; now we have 32 and still only 16 make the playoffs. This was even a topic on one of the 32 Thoughts podcasts last week and they said it is time to expand the playoffs.

I agree and wish it was more customizable but since it is not, curious as to what others do in their game.

Where did you get the 4 extra teams from? Did you do a 4 team expansion draft or add teams from other leagues? Thanks.
