CPU not "seeing" certain players
Not sure if this is entirely a bug or not but figured I'd see what the thought is. I recently had a 1987 historical amateur draft, scouting off, recalc off, dev on, default settings otherwise.
Jim Edmonds was the best player in the draft, weirdly the mock draft didn't have him anywhere in the first 5 rounds. I picked 23rd overall and he was there at 23. I've come to realize after selecting him and checking out his scouting page that sometimes he's scouted as a 0.5 star RP and not the 4.5 star CF, though sometimes he is listed in the reports as a CF? What I've seen improvement on in the draft is the CPU noticing the players like Wakefield who are like 1 star infielders by default but are excellent pitchers or vice versa in the draft. They used to be snipe-able late but Wakefield went in R1 as a 1 star infielder amongst 3-4 star players as the CPU "saw" his pitching acumen even though he wasn't listed as such. Older versions were exploitable in this regard. Back to Edmonds though, CPU doesn't attempt to include him in any trades despite how great a CF prospect he is and they don't list him in the Top 100 list I'm guessing because the game thinks he's a RP prospect even though he isn't checked as a 2 way player and his position is set to CF in the game. Is there any way to get the game to "see" top CF prospect Jim Edmonds? I've seen this with a few other guys at times throughout historical amateur drafts likely because the game scouts them (even if scouting is off) as a RP or whatever instead of their actual position. *I think*? I don't see anything in the player editor to basically say stop thinking he's a RP please. Last edited by omg_pwnasaurus; 07-28-2025 at 11:02 PM. |

Put another way, is there any way to make the game understand he's a CF?

I deleted his fake pitching lines in the database. They are typically innocuous so are only cleaned-up when pointed out/found. Consider this one found and certainly not innocuous. Try deleting his "P" experience as a band-aid. Post any others found to:

Oh nice! That worked, manually refreshed the top 100 and he's listed there now as a CF and in my prospect list! Thanks so much
