Using ai for player photos

I had ai create Barry Bonds at age in 1986, 1993 and his last year from this base photo.

I then had ai create Barry Bonds from a 2007 photo.

His head does seem to get a little bigger in both photos.
Wonder if going bald made his head look bigger as well as the steroids.

There are at least three known photos of Weaver with the 1939 Red Sox. The first two are from the Burke/Brace collection, courtesy of TheCatsPajamas99, and the third is from the Conlon Collection. The Conlon Collection image was colorized by Krantzbucks back in 2012.

I used to use the Conlon Collection all the time. First they did away with the Conlon site (I guess they sold it) then imagekind took away the pics. Still trying to find a good place for them.

I made 2 zip files.
One contains all the players.
The other one contains each team.
I didn't do home and away photos. Not sure if i will add that or
just wait till 1900.

I used Cap Anson since he had a long career to see how he would age and this is what i got.
The first photo is the one from baseball reference which i used as a base photo.

I wonder if chatgpt does a better job with a desktop pc or laptop.
On my phone and tablet it looks completely fictional and really close to the person it's creating.
Maybe the graphics card plays into it?
Idk. I'm just learning as I go and maybe it will help others who are interested.

Surprisingly I was unable to find a "good" picture of him even if he played 14 years in the major league... it's based on three different pictures of Elmer Smith.

Here are all the ai photos for the years 1871 and 1872.
Will add commish, owners and managers later.
I put players who played for different teams on their first team.
I included them in jerseys of their other team in the folder multiple team players.

Sometimes i have to remember the photo on baseball reference is when a player is much older than his current age for the year.
Or in one case a player was much older than the photo from baseball reference.
Thats kinda why i like this.
I'm really starting to hate looking at photos of old players when i know they were in their early 20s. Like i said i never thought about just how young these players were.

I don't see any resemblance between the AI result and what Smith looked like in reality. There are several very good photos of him since he played for many years in the big leagues. I've attached one from 1896 (which was his best year in the majors) and in 1900.

There are at least 2 known photos of William Johnson during his playing days. Neither look like the AI rendition. I have attached a legit photo of Johnson from the 1871 Cleveland Forest Citys team composite.

These are great. I've been mucking around a bit with Gary C-style Negro League caricatures. A work in progress, some better than others using ChatGPT 4.o.

The major issue with Chat as usual, is its utter lack of consistency even when given a really strict protocol to follow. As often as not in my experience it just derives things from its own parallel universe, which makes them totally inaccurate.

What you've done here inspires me to keep at it.

One question, if I may - are you getting these to work OK in-game? I tend to find mine will appear on team pages and pop-ups but then only on certain player pages and not others. That's in v25 using jpg format at 120x80 res. The ones that work, work fine and look great. But as I said they only work very selectively.
