This is an interesting article that reads the Commanders might be leaning back towards the old logo and name. They seem to have put some things out where it shows itself here and there. Now...they release a video with the new "Super Bowl" unis and guess what you see in the background??
As this article also asks, is this accidental or intentional. I believe the the old is about to be new again. JMO.

I would be surprised. It was sponsor pressure that finally got Snyder to make the change and then he sold to the Josh Harris group.

I have no idea why they would take a step back.

This sounds like wish casting by a very specific set of people.

Well, if you're going to brag about your REDSKINS Super Bowl history, then yes, the video will show Redskins players wearing Redskins uniforms with the Redskins logo on the helmet.

Now, once JaDan and crew win a few Lombardis of their own, their might be other options. But that's for the future.

(Am I curious as to whether this post will trigger an auto-censor? Somewhat.)

The old name and logo is so "banned" and avoided, but funny how it just keeps showing up?! The Commanders tweeted a birthday tweet to Chris Cooley and the picture of Cooley was him in uniform holding his helmet with the banned logo facing prominently out.
Then..SOMEbody had to decorate the background of the new Super Bowl era unis and, again, they didn't exactly hide it. An older helmet is there with a couple of pennants hanging under it with the logo.
Wouldn't you think...SOMEone had to ok the banned logo in both instances?

It should be enough, and it should satisfy everyone, that the issue is settled MOVING FORWARD. There should be no problem in visting Redskins history because it did happen under that team name and logo.

Forbidding the mention of Redskins would be ludicrous. It would be tantamount to excising the history of slavery in this country. That happened, too. There are no slaves in America now. (Please don't wax political on this point, though.)

The logo was not banned
It was retired and changed

Maybe I am wrong, but I did not understand him in that manner. That is, advocating a return, perhaps. I believe he is thinking more in line with what I said in my previous post.

I highly doubt they will return to their old name and logo. But it wouldn't totally surprise me if they went back to the Native American theme. They wouldn't even need a redesign. They already have the uniforms. They already have the helmet. The older one with the arrow on it.

I'm not sure where the majority of Native Americans stand on this issue.
Polls seem debated either way.
I can say that I never saw the nickname as a racist slur.
I saw it more as something to fear and respect.
It seems rather dumb for a team to choose a nickname to be
laughed, mocked or hated.
But I'm not Native American, so it's their call, and I'll leave it to them.

I did love that a…prominent supporter of restoring the name referred to the Indians as "one of the six original teams". Not sure if he got MLB and NHL mixed up or if he meant to say "sixteen" (which still ignores all pre-1900 MLB history), lol.
