Mission Frenzy at its Worst

The new pack rewards missions amuse me no end. Practically every mission has some random iron card with a 4000 bid on it, Some have multiples. And one of the missions most likely requires you to buy a card that currently has a bid near 20 K on it. What do you get for all your truoble? Something like 19 regular packs and one diamond pack. Total market value of the packs you get - 30 K, more or less.

It makes much more sense to just buy 30 regular packs (you're likely to pull a diamond in that many and might pull a perfect), and then wait until the prices for the mission cards come down to earth and get the packs all over again in a couple of months, when there will be many more attractive cards in packs.

This morning, someone was silly enough to give me 4k for the iron I pulled that would have completed one of those 2 standard pack missions.

I gave back to the universe by selling my Zunino participation trophy for someone's 200 BO.

It's awful. Every "newer" mission has ridiculously priced cards that you seriously can't get in packs. I sold off some cards and just opened about 100 packs and got one card that was related to the missions added in the last 3 weeks. 1 CARD. What the heck? The whales are ruining the game for the rest of us by paying outrageous prices to finish these missions.

Also, while it's good to see new missions, why did we go from 3-4 new missions added every two weeks to like 40-50 added in the last 3 weeks? I had a competitive team in LD 2 weeks ago - I made the LCS in LD despite some horrible individual performances of the same old "good" players on my team, got to HD, back to LD and I'm feeling like my team is going to be lucky to compete in HG now, I'll bet. Waffling in LD right now...

This is just the usual silliness with newly-released mission cards. I always sell those new Iron and Bronze cards that are going for thousands because the prices are bound to crash within a couple of weeks. Nothing like selling for 6,000 and then buying back for 50.

They've added a ton of "Launch" missions.

It seems to be a mini game to gather up cards at low prices before they get added to missions. You can't do it all the time but you can do it a lot.

Even my free account got a lot of completed missions this way just now.

Others spent the All-Star Game watching the All-Star game.

I invested the time in grinding on those silly Launch Missions given I already had a solid start on completions...I spent something over 300K PP's but OMG the benefits...I can't even calculate yet. I opened a lot of packs as I went along as I needed the capital+helped solve missions so it's all pretty murky but...

I should get that money back from outstanding sales for the most part plus:

Variant 5 Honus Wagner

All the darn cards I collected that might end up in future missions

Packs Still Unopened (might do it after tomorrows drop, I expect it will be a loaded one)

2 Diamond
7 Historical Silver
6 Historical Gold
17(!) Historical Diamond
1 Historical Perfect
2 Historical Rainbow

Yeah, that worked out well...

The thing is, sometimes it's worth it to pay the stupid prices to avoid later bottlenecking that makes it impractical to complete the keystones. If you can just bang out the entire pyramid in a few hours after the drop it's gonna be worth some overpays from the buyer's perspective.

True, but not all overpays are created equal. There's really no way that Iron and Bronze cards can stay at prices in the thousands. Too easily drawn from packs. Supply will inevitably outstrip demand.

I bought up all da Bronze and Irons and never paid more than about 280 max. I don't know where this idea is coming from. In fact, most of the Silvers cost under 500.

This "idea" comes from reality. Right now, there are two new Bronze cards going for 2999 each. Three more for over 1000. Two Irons are going for over 1500. None of them are Clubhouse or Tournament cards, which have limited supply and cost more. They're all pack cards that were released on Monday; and on Monday, they were selling for a lot more.

Ok, apologies. I hadn't looked since I frenzied and bought everything up on the cheap and completed the mission.
