How do you level up a player?
I see these colored stars on some historical cards, how do you use them?

So, first of all, these are called Variant cards, which are a card type for historical cards that allows you to boost the abilities of the card. Historical cards are only boostable if they're the "Variant" version of the card, which means they have a solid-colored background around the card with five stars across the top that have "Variant" next to that. You can use them on tournament rosters, league play, or as "food" for other variants!
To boost the card, you go to the "Variant Boosts" screen and select the card you want to boost from the dropdown on the left side. Then, on the right side of the screen, you will see a list of cards in your collection, sorted by the number of Relation Points "Points" that it has with the card, based on the team, card type, decade, and most crucially, how long they were teammates for. To get the card to the next boost level, you select the cards that you want to use from that list, and at the bottom there is a number of points needed to get to the next level, which vary based on the overall of the card. Once you get enough points (you can go up to 1,000 points over that will carry over to the boost to the next level), you can submit the cards you use, and the Variant card will be boosted. PLEASE NOTE THAT ANY CARDS YOU USE IN A BOOST WILL BE DELETED AND REMOVED FROM YOUR COLLECTION AND CANNOT BE REVERSED. You can boost the card up to 5 levels. Hopefully this is a good explanation!
