ootp26 installation help needed

I am on a Mac..
I have successfully installed ootpbb apps going back quite a few years - since about OOTP18 I think. So I am familiar with the installation process.
Before submitting this post I did look through the technical support posts to see if my issue was common and addressed in that thread.

Here is what I did:
1. Make purchase and get receipt/confirmation number/installation code from FastSpring.
2. Download Mac version of 26 via the link provided.
3. Open the OOTP26 installer.
4. Move OOTP26 icon into my application folder.
5. Try to open OOTP26 by clicking on the icon in the applications folder.

Here is what happened next:
1. The OOTP26 icon showed up in the menu bar and "pulsed bigger and smaller" trying to open.
2. But it eventually stopped "pulsing" and never did open the OOTP26 app. Usually once any application has been opened, there is a "small back arrow" by the icon indicating that the app is open. There was no "small black arrow" next to the icon.
3. The app never did open the OOTP26 application and bring up the OOTP start up screen as per normal.
4. When I tried again to open the program, I got a message saying: You can't open the application "OOTP Baseball 26" because it is not responding.

So I tried to delete the app, reboot the computer and start the whole process again.
When I tried deleting the OOTP26 app, it would not let me do that because the app was open.
When I tried to shut down my computer it also wouldn't let me do that as it once again reported the OOTP26 app failed to quit - meaning it is still open..

So my computer was telling me the app couldn't be opened and at the same time prohibited me from other actions because the app was still open. Very confusing.

I have tried the whole installation process from the beginning several times and rebooted several times with the same results.

Any ideas or directions would be much appreciated.

You didn't mention it, but did you try Force Quit to close the app?

Yes
I did do force quit eventually everytime I needed to delete and start over.
It was the only way to proceed.
Then I would delete the installer and the app completely and start over.
New download, new installation, same result.
I did that 5-6 times rebooting my computer each time as well.
Seems really weird cause I can still open and play ootp23,24,25 with no issues.

Looks like you are doing things correctly. The steps to install the game on a Mac are as follows:

1. download the installer
2. execute the installer
3. drag and drop the App into the Applications folder
4. On the pop-up "An older item named OOTP Baseball 26 already exists in this location", choose replace old app
5. start app from the applications folder
6. On the pop-up, asking if you trust OOTP Baseball 26, choose yes

A common issue is that users don't delete old installer files and install the same version over and over again, because the newer installer is now OOTPBaseball26Installer-1.dmg.
If it's not working using these steps above, then your installer file could be broken. Try downloading the latest installer again and use that to install.
The minimum required version to run OOTP 26 is MacOS 10.15. Make sure you are using this or a later version.

First of all, thanks for your reply.

Steps 1-5 is what I've been doing. I have done so now 8-10 times over the last few days.
When re-trying, I delete the installer from my downloads folder as well as deleting the app which resides in my application folder. I have to force quit the application before deleting it. I can't do so without doing force quit because the forces quit menu shows ootpbb26 as open (or it wouldn't even be in that folder). This doesn't seem right as the app never really opens and gets an error message stating can't open the app.

When I start the whole process over, steps 1-5 continually go as planned until trying to open the application....then it times out and shows the "can't open message" - see first post.

Another thing that seems peculiar is that the OOTP Baseball 26 folder shows up more than once in the force quit menu if you try to open it twice. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the same application can be open twice simultaneously.

Also, when I "Get Info" and select the OOTP26 icon after trying all this, it will show the time and date of when the app was last upon. Also peculiar, as the app never opened.

My Operating system is Sequoia 15.5

There was no error or warning or anything like that?
When you start the app, you said that "The OOTP26 icon showed up in the menu bar and "pulsed bigger and smaller" trying to open.". Can you click on it to bring the window to the front maybe? I am thinking that it might be that pop-up message, that asks you if you trust this app.
I am not sure what else to recommend. You can try downloading the public beta installer. I think, that was built with a newer MacOSX SDK than the last released version.

When I click on the app and try to open it, it flashes bigger and smaller in the menu bar - that's the only thing it does. It eventually stops flashing bigger and smaller - nothing else happens - no messages prompts/anything - it just stops flashing.

After it stops flashing, then I click on it a second time - it goes through the same flashing routine for a short while and eventually the error message shows. Once gain no prompts or anything like that.

I agree, I think we've kind of exhausted a lot of the possible sulotions. Very puzzling, its not like this is a recurring issue with other customers - bu, conversely, I don't think my laptop is set up differently from those who've successfully installed 26. Especially since I haven't experienced issues with previous ootp editions.

I will try the public beta installer.
