Playing in Frontier League - Salary cap
It's the first time I am playing OOTP! I did one season with the Trois-Rivières Aigles.
Now I am in janurary 2026, on the team salary page it's saying I am spending 45K, but on the payroll close to 80K (79K). Now I do not understand, because I can't actually go out and sign any players, but how can my payroll be at the cap if I am spending 45K Thanks for your help. |

Hi welcome! That is an interesting issue. If you dont mind, can you post some screenshots so I can can look in hopes of identifying what's going on?
-Show your team salary page -Your team financial tab -Organization tab -> Roster -> list entire organization -> select the "Financial Info" view, sort by salary

That is weird, those salaries should add up to 47,350. For those guys that have no salary, do they have an ML contract option if promoted? I'm wondering if since they are on your active roster, their future projected salary is being counted in payroll. Also, is there anyone on your reserve roster or DFA list that is not showing on your org screen?

Did you (or the AI if you took them over at some point in the offseason) release anyone who was under contract, or retain salary in a trade?
It's the Frontier League so my guess is no, but it's getting that salary number from somewhere. |

I just did a new standard game, simmed through the season and the Brockton Rox had 2 players with 5k (it's actually somewhere between 4k and 5k) total salary for 2026. Projected/salary was listed at 57600.
Frontier rosters are max 24. Min. salary is 2400. 22*2.4 is 52.8. So projected of 57600 makes sense since it would project to have at least the max roster size * minimum. Not sure why it's counting that against the cap if you don't have the players yet. Or it's expecting you to sign everyone to "minor" league contracts so they're minimum when the season starts. Or hoping you have enough reserves. Although the math doesn't seem to work out quite as close on yours. Unless any players you released had extensions into the next season that's adding extra. I can kind of see why they may do it this way so you can't have a bunch of players stashed on minor contracts that won't get a salary until opening day AND then sign players to actual money so you end up over the cap on opening day. But it's going to stand out in an indy league with max 1 year contracts and relatively low salary cap like the FL. But it definitely seems like it's considering what's projected as also the amount of your current payroll. |
