You would think OOTP can respond in real time, adjusting their 2026 biz plans to maximize income -and- player satisfaction. The few folks right here in these threads can list a half dozen simple low cost ideas to improve the player experience.
Here's one: make dups worth something, like the 3rd and 5th dup in the set gets more PP or a few CS points when sold or goes into a lottery for a 102 Ted Williams. |

I just reviewed the list of missions by release date and hard to believe, but it's worse than I thought. It seems like they are trying to keep us all just barely engaged while expending the least amount of effort.
The plan appears to be every other week you will get one of: A smattering of pack missions. A smattering of pack missions that lead to as little as one mission card. Missions have been my favorite part of this game, so this hurts. |

I am shocked there wasn't a set of missions to coincide with the live updates. I feel like that has been a staple.

So many of their staple missions have gone the way of the dodo bird in favor of the almighty dollar. Such a shame,

It feels like it's gotten worse as the season has progressed whereas normally there's more missions and more to do. Clearly been deprioritized and/or there's no longer people working on missions. Pretty huge step back in terms of quality this year

Yes, it's getting ridiculous. Late June just around the corner and the only full-sized mission tree is Live Series. NeL gets you only Satchel Paige and some usable tournament cards after running through more than a dozen missions. The Bonus Rewards are one-offs, and we're still plagued by Launch Deck missions that are overly expensive and frequently missing key component cards three months in. The toppers cost less than completing the missions. Why buy Brett Lawrie for 50K and another 14 cards for 20K or so when you can buy the topper for 37K? It's not like you're getting anything extra in the way of packs.
Apparently, we're all in on pack luck and buy orders. I've done a New Team Primer the last two years exploring the options available to new teams (FTP) in June. Live Series is now self-funding. Check. Options afterward? None, other than outright purchases of the best available cards. If I did another one this year, I'd recommend completing Live Series and then hoarding packs and points, which is what I'm doing with one team and probably two. B-O-R-I-N-G. |

The cheap Gehrigs helped us cheapskates although capped at 40,000 PP return.
I've spent 19.99 this year total (it was a year old balance on Steam) Would still love to spend $100 to $300 at some point but, after all these weeks, can't find logical connect between cards and performance. Someone pointed out that card vs performance easy to see in lower tiers. That's the problem ... almost impossible to see moving up to God's country ie tired of 100 relievers doing endless 5.00 ERA seasons. |

I had a lot of the cards for the Chris Sale series already, and was able to buy some of the others with my current stash, but still missing 2 for the Blank Sox mission.
I did get lucky and get Fernando Valenzuela (duplicate) in a pack, which is selling really well. 150k for a diamond is a bit out of my price range as I stopped spending this season.Maybe in a few weeks, I can save enough off stream packs, if the price comes down far enough. I also had to buy the clubhouse bronze for Blank Sox with clubhouse points. But, I'm not getting many of those anyway in recent weeks, so why save? After getting Steve Carlton and him already being mostly disappointing and outclassed, I caved and spent 50 CP on trying to complete the mission. |

the others would be that each team just gets some random # rolled as "luck" at the all star break (like a handicap modifier based on record up to all-star break, could be both positive and negative .. maybe there is something like this at the start of the season too?), or that the sims are so basic that it's damn near entirely random. i think the latter is less likely since there do seem to be some patterns. i had 600k perfect points and ~1750 clubhouse points saved up (i've essentially only spent them to sell Felipe Lopez's for 20-25k a pop @ 30 CS until a day ago, sprinkle in some Catfish Hunter, perhaps a few Randy Johnson going forward) for the All-Star break this time and went ahead and completed a bunch of missions w/ a half dozen or so direct upgrades to roster, mainly the pitchers from the missions. these would be kevin brown, roy halladay, satchel paige, roger clemens, nolan ryan ... these had higher ratings than the pitchers they replaced across the board (maybe nolan ryan had a few pts less control than someone but dozens of extra points in stuff and movement). i also had a whitey ford that didn't sell for a million points, so i went ahead and put that in the starting rotation. bill hoffer, andy pettite, tom glavine, darryl kile, bob moose, tim wakefield were replaced (the old mission results from live cards mostly, I think). i haven't spent any money on this iteration of perfect team. Essentially a whole new starting rotation except for dave stieb, who i have at #4, ahead of kevin brown. robinson cano, mike piazza, and mike pearce for position players, but maybe those are "sideways", i have no clue. they seemed like upgrades to what i was using to me. don't recall offhand what they replaced. i still have 1200 clubhouse points, so i could upgrade some other stuff, but seems wasteful, because of card inflation. robinson cano was one of the ones i had to buy to finish a mission (Subway or something). august 13th is when all these changes went into place i was 65-31 pre all-star break, with my old roster. this same roster was at 9-10 after the Bat of Equity took a swing to induce spending via Roster Improvements. 15-10 after my changes, not as good as the winning % pre all-star break. i suspect it's just a handicap being selectively applied, so you just need better cards to overcome it. i'm not sure if it's reset at playoff time or not Last edited by zevus; 06-14-2025 at 02:49 PM. |

5-11 and a 4.81 ERA not worth 150,000 PP.

my OBP always in top tier. Not OPS because I dont want to sacrifice for power. Have great seasons that always fade into September, regarding of how many PP I've spent to upgrade.

Ken Griffey Jr missions added on a weekend, that's new to me!
I have a bit of FOMO for a 101 Ken Griffey, Jr, but so far have resisted further spending. The missions look challenging for him. |

Just pulled a 101 Randy Johnson from a base pack! I already own it so the PP I get from the sell will help me complete the Chris Sale mission and put me on the path to Junior.

Would you take 40K PP for that card?
