Anyone EVER have tournament playoffs?
This is the second or third iteration of ootp with the same thing now.
Create a custom tournament. Choose teams from leagues. Never ever finish the tournament. No matter what, no tournament I have ever created by selecting teams from leagues has ever produced a tournament with playoffs and a champion. The round robin ends. It says 'playoffs begin'. There are no scheduled games. Clicking 'sim to playoffs end' will literally just sim infinitely. This seems really silly. Have posted this many times without ever even a question about it. Really frustrating.

I was having a similar problem and I changed the player sourcing to be from 'Player League Level' instead of 'Player Talent Level'

Champion League style. 4 leagues, each send their top 2 teams to a tournament every year. But the Picking teams from leagues format has never worked.

Association playoffs are working fine despite their limited functionality. I’m running a postseason cup with over 100 clubs.

I have 4 independent leagues. I want to have the top 2 teams in each league play a 8 team tournament every season. Which I will be moving teams in and out of. Creating a tournament where you select the teams from their leagues does not result with a tournament champion. Just their round robin games and then a playoff that never starts nor ends.

So I just tried ANOTHER one, where I disabled the playoffs.
After the season ended, I checked the history. No champion listed. Click into the league. Select 'Champions'. "There are no champions for the selected year". Check the year drop down. It is blank. Zero options for years. Go to the "playoff history" tab. The defaulted (and only option) year is 2024. If a developer could just reply and say "this isnt important enough to fix" then I can go about my business knowing this is pointless. That would be fine. Just please acknowledge this post.

There seems to be cases where it doesn't set the opening day event properly. We will fix that for the next patch. You can manually add the opening day event, and then it should proceed properly.

Now I may feel like a mega idiot as this has driven me bonkers, and its probably simple - but how does one go about creating an Opening Day event?

I'm dredging this up as it seems to be the most recent related thread for a question I have. I'm on v.23 but I don't think much of the relevant issues have changed.
I recall people setting up inter-league tournaments instead of associations/playoffs because of the better recording of data and histories. Is that still a thing? You'd set up a tournament for maybe a week after all league playoffs, select the leagues to be represented, and pick whatever teams from the leagues to hold the place. Then just after (or even during I guess) league playoffs, you'd manually select the top-finishing teams to play in the tournament. Does this work? This thread makes me a little nervous at trying it.
