24 team, 162 game schedule
2 leagues, 2 divisions, 6 teams per division

Things I would enjoy adding to this schedule if not too difficult for anyone who could help:

Start first Sat in April

36 games of interleague play (3 game series vs 12 teams in other league) that lead into a 3rd sat of July all star game

54 games within league outside division

72 games that are left within division

Idk how hard this would be to balance. but if it is the thing I'm most interesting in preserving would be the the 36 interleague games leading into the all star game.

To explain the two above... The first is geared toward the specifics of start date and All-Star date. I had forgotten those details and originally made the second. That was tweaked slightly to fit the requested parameters.
