Be firm with the Colorado Rockies, not namby-pambies like we were (except in the second game). Show them how bad they really are!

Also, Boom-Boom is really mean right now, but I'm sure it'll end at some point.

Yeah, I don't know what to do with Boom-Boom being unhittable. You know he's just waiting to bite us in the ass.

The LA trip in 2019(?) was when I despaired of him officially.

The Seattle Diaz one where he struck out three, or the Metsies Boom-Boom one where he almost took Ezequiel Tovar's head off after allowing a leadoff single?
![]() I missed the first couple of innings of this game because my between-F1-and-Mets nap ran over its allotted time slot (still gotta watch NASCAR at night!), but I came in time for Pete's 3-run homer! Mets are W26 when Lindor homers. ![]() And Colorado is 9-50. ![]() ![]()

This is rather spectacular to behold. Think of 59 coins, peanuts, bottle tops, whatever. Visualize putting 9 of them on one side and 50 on the other, and comparing the size of the piles.

My Raccoons played a 5-24 May their current season. I just have to imagine doubling that misery, and then the Rockies are still worse. Of course the Critters then posted a .640 mark in June, totally ruining their draft position ![]()

I can't say I love the Mets falling behind a historically-bad team for the SIXTH consecutive time this week, nor allowing Carson f'n Palmquist to set personal strikeout marks and shrink that 8.78 ERA, but at least they got the job done…eventually.
Need to be twice as good (at minimum) in Chavez Ravine, however. MLBN tonight…now to hope for GKR. Last edited by Amazin69; 06-02-2025 at 11:18 AM. |

Just caught the last three outs from the Monday opener.
The Dodgers are in trouble when Jose Butt-Oh can nail a save down against them! ![]()

This time Megill didn't lose the plate in the middle innings; he was trash right from the start.
When Muncy hit his first homer, I decided that this was a good time to take that nap I shoud have had earlier, and hit pause, trusting the 90-minute buffer to wake me, all refreshed and ready to root. Not so fast…by the time my subconscious figured out that the noise from the box meant it was time to stop snoozing, we were in the 8th inning, and I had missed the Mets' big comeback. Instead I got to see Brazoban give up Muncy's tying blast and, as I don't watch Tiddy-Winks or whatever Manfred has on after nine innings, that was that. May as well have stood in bed, as is said. Maybe we get a legit winner tonight? Maybe I manage to manage to see it? We'll, uh, see |

Last night, total bases by Metsies:
Pete - 8 Literally everybody else, including the ballboy - 2 The two homers lift Pete to t-280th on the career homer board with a round 240 bombs. He's tied with Jeff Burroughs (Texas? I know nothing about him) and Roberto Clemente (who I *do* know things about!). Not sure I'll last to tonight's (well, after 10 my time anyway) game, since I'm moderately ill and can barely keep my eyes open even now... ![]()

I will never be able to un-see that retarded play on Will Smith at the plate between the three Stooges sharing a single brain cell, Baty, Alvarez, and Garrett. Smith should have been out three times between them, and yet managed to slide in safe.
I shall never recover from this wound.

I actually missed it, as I was glazing over from the game-long trainwreck of LOB and David Peterson being David Peterson and his successors being David Peterson as well. Only looked up from my computer at the words "two runs score due to the error by Brett Baty and the Dodgers take the lead!" from Gary.
I suppose I should check it out, watch the Mets become heir to the 1917 Giants, with Alvarez playing Bill Rariden to Baty's Heinie Zimmerman. (Look it up.) The difference is, the White Sox who took advantage of those Giant brain-farts was Eddie Collins, speedy 2B who led the AL in SB several times. Javy Baez embarrassed the Pirates in 2021, but Javy is also blessed with speed. These guys couldn't catch a catcher. Yumpin' Yiminy!! So, three chokes in four games turns what should have been a sweep into a split. I appreciate the tribute act to my LA Kings' performance against Edmonton, guys, but really. Off to face the red-hot Rox. We play this way there, we can have the Pile up to the soaring heights of .231 ball (15-50) by Monday! ******* BTW, not that I was exactly missing the defensive stylings of Mark Vientos (even given the alternative…), but where was he? I missed the first inning dealing with…issues, so I didn't get the details from Gary. Did Swaggy V break a toe in solidarity with Lindor or something? The No-RISP Mets - except for Pete; Pete is without blemish, and I will love him forever! - barely pulled a W out of their arses in the opener against the Mountaintops. They were 0-for-8 (or so) with runners in scoring position until Pete finally hit the first 2-run double; and they were about to enter the bottom 9th tied when "Nine Toes" Lindor dragged his sore bottom off the bench to slap another 2-run double.
That was all the offense you care about, really. Pete made a nifty play to strike down the debutant whose name I have already forgotten at the plate when the Mets were behind 1-0. Baty also made a nice defensive play on a cracked liner with the three adrift, nobody out, and made a snatch-and-tag for a crucial 5-U double play that dragged Stanek through the eighth. But that wasn't the first three-on, no-out that was KILLED by Baty with a confused strikeout. He was in fact the first of three straight strikeouts after the Mets went walk, walk, hit-by-pitch-or-maybe-not-who-knows-but-Taylor-sold-it-quite-convincingly to fill the bases. So at least they didn't waste any hits there. Just oxygen, which is in short supply at the Mountaintops' place. Baty and Alvarez are useless on offense, useless on defense (most of the time at least), and yes, I'm still foaming from the Will Smith play in Dodgerland. They both need a vacation in St. Lucie. Is extended spring training still going?

FOURTH straight game where the Mets fall behind the 12-51 team and despite PEEEEETE having an MVP game, we were mostly saved by luck. U-G-L-Y from stem to stern. The "highlights" needed a better description. MLBN is airing tonight's game…but they're skipping the first hour and only joining at 10.30 PM, odd as that is. "Self-defense" seems to be the best reason, methinks. The new Rockie's name was "Ritter", so he should be your kind of critter. For Colorado, he might be pick of the litter. Speaking of "litter"…when I dissed the Rox "Colorado Forest Rangers" Chitty Connect unis last season, that was not a request for the Pile to replace them with the Garanimals™ version of the Nuggets' old "skyline" outfits. Perhaps I needed to be more clear about that. My bad. Last edited by Amazin69; Today at 11:51 AM. |

When even Gary Cohen goes (more flowery, but we all got it) that your uniforms look GAY, then perhaps your uniforms look GAY.
At first I thought we were playing the Marlins. ![]() ![]() ![]()
