NPBL Opening: California Kings

We have one team open in the NPBL...
the California Kings.

The NPBL is a 24 team fictional league that has one sim left in its 6th regular season. Sims are done Tues, Thurs, Sun. We have financials turned off, so you can retain your superstars and get to know the teams better. We also have an active owner base with excellent participation on exports.

The league structure uses a national theme in which teams come from states and the owners name their minor league clubs accordingly ala that states cities. The divisions are geographically structured as well.

The Kings record since the league's inception:

2000 89-73
2001 88-74
2002 76-86
2003 78-84
2004 72-90
2005 71-82 6 games back (current season)

Batting AVG: .228 (22nd)
Homeruns: 170 (5th)
Walks: 399 (12th)
Stolen Bases: 42 (23rd)
Runs Scored: 576 (19th)

Pitching ERA: 4.10 (19th)
Opponents AVG: .249 (13th)
HRs Allowed: 169 (21st)
Walks Allowed: 449 (T-20th)
Runs Allowed: 662 (16th)

15th in the power rankings
8th ranked minors system

The Kings will be in need of an overhaul soon. Only 5 players on the expanded September rosters are under 30 years old. They do have some decent prospects in the system. The Kings also play in a close division. The division winner this year will likely be just over .500

Walk tall with the Kings. This franchise has the best starting pitcher in the NPBL.

That is a great website. I really like the info one gets after clicking on one of the teams on the front page. Even the dimensions of the ballpark are shown. Excellent stuff. I just wish it had financials... I would be lost running a team without a payroll actually.

I've been apart of a few fictional leagues now...and this one has a different feel than the others I have played in. One of the first things I noticed, saw, and felt..was a sense of depth. The feeling that the league had been around..and there was some tangible history associated with it. Not just with the standard reports that OOTP generates but from the team pages that the guys update every year. To the way they talk...to the way they post news articles. Its hard enough trying to make a league that is based off real players feel real...its another thing entirely to take a fictional league and a new incoming GM, me earlier this year, and pretty much have that feeling that you just joined something. It may sound korny...but true.

This league is run well...and the GM's are all great guys who I'm glad I'm starting to get to know a little better since I joined. Check us out and see where you can take the Kings in our little world of the National Past-time Baseball League. You won't regret it.

I think what HolyCow said sums it all up nicely. If you are looking for a great league with a great commish and GM's look no farther. We have a great time and GM participation on the forums is great. So if you are looking for fun, comraderie and a competitive league the NPBL is for you. Tell them Marcus sent you

The NPBL Championship game is Thurs 12/11 and the ammy draft is tentatively scheduled for Tues 12/16, so grab the Kings now and start building your dynasty
