I think it's a wrap for the year... below are the details of the 6 teams I created and their successes/failures to date. A couple things are apparent;
The Commodores certainly got a head start: They got all the Twitch Drops (456 Standard packs & 97 Silver packs) and the most attention to missions (103 out of 145). Would have been higher, but the typical mission roadblocks (overpriced cards) blocked me from doing better. The Active roster breakdown was 16 cards purchased from card shop, 1 from choice pack, 4 from standard packs, 4 from mission rewards, and 1 from ClubHouse. With an 87 team ratings, one would think the Commodores would be better, but this week is their 2nd consecutive demotion and it's clear there little room at Diamond/Gold for rating under 90. My $100 investment gave me a quick start and 5 seasons in Low Diamond, but it's highly unlikely I can return to that level without another sizeable investment. I could give up on the Reserve roster and sell everything off - that might give me a couple high-end players to extend the team's success for a while, but the end result in inevitable = probably HS at best. The other 5 teams have team ratings 67-69 which are pretty average for HS/LS/HB. Without Twitch drop support, time, or money, these teams will play roller-coaster between those three levels for the balance of the year. Sure, a lucky pack or two can make a difference, but they will never see Gold or Diamond without a serious time/$$ investment. All that said, 5 times in Diamond is better than I have done since PT19, so I would consider this version a success - ALTHOUGH - I still have a beef that I reached an 87 rated roster by the middle of May and have no place to go from here ![]() I'm glad the classic game is still here though. It'll keep me engaged in baseball till V27 comes out.

High Gold,
I was top team in the league at 93-69, so of course I get swept 3-0 by an 84-78 team, with only 1 of the games even decided by a single run. (5-4, 11-8, 6-2). I often wonder how much of this game is random, is it 50% or more than that? My theme team won last year in High Bronze with little coaching, almost no changes in the whole season. This is really the way to run, at least once you get out of Iron/Bronze. I'm sure someone will come in to claim that it's all random, but my experience shows that bringing new players onboard during the season is almost always a disaster, especially right after they're added. Better to stick with what you've got, make some lineup and pitching adjustments, then add new players after the playoffs wrap up on Sunday.

Main team went 80-82 in High Gold after relocating to Three Rivers Stadium. Lots of power, lots of mediocre pitching. Still, the underlying numbers were better than the end results, so I'm thinking it was just an unlucky season. Giving it another shot next week.
Number two team got shellacked in High Gold after making the HG playoffs last week. Relegation to Low Gold should fix some of the run scoring issues, and the defense/pitching was pretty solid. Moving to KC Municipal to muffle some of the home runs, as that's the team's biggest weakness. Number three team easily won its High Silver division and got to the LCS, so they'll be promoted to Low Gold for the first time. Adding lots of firepower, as I completed Live Series over the course of the week but kept everyone on the reserve roster until today. Team weaknesses are mostly Steve Finley in right field and Reggie Smith in center. They're really more of a right field platoon, so I'm still looking for an upgrade. |

I believe you're right as far as shuffling established relievers in and out, but we'll never know for sure because officially all results are random. There is no new player curse. This is from my new team in Iron league, so the curse that isn't doesn't last; but remember, things like this only happen randomly:

Yes, Lester won Pitcher of the month for May. Six starts, 48.2 IP, 5-0, 1.11 ERA. He's the sneaky good live series reward. Nasty off-speed stuff.

So...can someone tell me why Satchel Paige is so bad for a 100 with seemingly good stats?
His stats look pretty good across the board, but his usual performance for me is poor. I've tried him out in 4 seasons, only one of those did he stick around at 10-7 in 29 games with ERA of 3.49. Last week, he was 0-2 in 3 games with an ERA of 5.40. This week, he's 0-2 with an ERA of 6.94 in high gold. I get better results out of multiple different diamond cards, like Mike Scott, Roger Clemens, even Juan Marichal. On the other hand, my Jackson Jobe has finally had a couple good seasons. The stats often don't back up the results. Perhaps the data set is too small. |

Epidemic of under performance by 100 cards 40% of the time. 60% of the time they outperform. I have 11 of 26 99-100. 15 of 26 adding 98. It's all a game of inches to the top. Still haven't spent real money.
My weakness now is the bullpen. spend 50K+ PP for a +17 stamina ace I can only pitch once in 3 or 4 days. WTF? |

Solving OOTP's digital-cards-evaporate-at-seasons-end Kobayashi Maru.

Mike Minor, for example, will have a low ERA in some seasons and others get blown out multiple times for a 7 ERA. I try to have a Setup R and Setup L, each with strong hold runners, 4 middle relievers with 2 of them as secondary long relief, and a closer. Dave Stieb has been choking as a starter but doing ok as a reliever. Andres Munoz is up over 300 saves and I could see him getting an amazing "career" total since he doesn't get older. |

Early this week I'm seeing some truly ghastly ERAs.
Nolan Ryan - career worst so far at 6.33 Mort Cooper - career worst 6.60 Roy Halladay - first games, 5.61 Andres Munoz, my closer got changed to middle reliever after posting a 10.80 ERA in 6 games. Switched out a different reliever for Mike Scott, in his first game, 10.80 ERA with a blown save. In that game, the other player had a reliever with a 10.12 and a reliever with an 11.81 and the other player lost. Edit: Am I wrong in thinking each player gets assigned some score that indicates they will have a good year or a bad year each season? I have no explanation otherwise for how Jackson Jobe goes 14-4 one year and 4-14 the next with very little changes to the roster and the same league level. My 99 and 100 pitchers all running close to 6.00 era, in LS!, after six weeks. Jackie Robinson never had to face 15 different Dave Stiebs.

Traffic Jam
Something else.
2025 LIVE missions a huge deal in 1st two months. ---Everyone--- has the same 95-100 mission rewards. Algos just saying "oh man this sucks', and spitting out 40/60 array of good vs bad performance (unfortunately NOT CLOSE to player actual production). |
