Unhappy Lack of Missions this year is really disappointing

I'm not sure if there's a specific reason the devs have cut way back on regular Mission drops this year but it's been a stark change from previous seasons. Other than the launch missions and NeL there's been basically nothing to do in-game, no interesting Toppers to work toward, and really unless you're grinding tournaments nothing to really keep people occupied.

It's particularly disappointing because I think the changes made to variants, tournaments, and league rewards are all really promising and create a much more cohesive ecosystem, but without regular Mission content I'm losing interest fast and the people I convinced to play with this year have already dropped out because, in their words, "it feels like they just aren't updating the game any more".

I find it kind of confusing personally because there was a lot of great effort made last season to start adding Monday Mission drops on top of regular Mission content, and I thought the system last year was the best it's ever been. This feels like a huge step back, and I really hope they look into changing it to be closer to what we've seen in years past.

Agree. Startled by the lack of attention to new missions. Like they have given up and are looking for a buyer.

Just 48 100 non live cards for sale @ crazy prices sez new drops aren't attracting buyers/card pack sales.

I still miss BaL/Build a Legend/Build a Lineup. That was the alternative to Live Series rewards early on. Sliding Negro Leagues and Future Legends forward really hasn't done the trick. There are only about 50 Perfect cards right now, and a lot of them have no mission assignments. Yes, they'll all eventually show up in a mission, but that will usually be after their usefulness as active players has fallen below replacement level. They'll end up as reserve roster fillers who provide 200 points toward a mission that requires 500-700 points.

It's getting more and more like we should all just ignore missions and buy the best cards every week, or at least only complete missions with useful toppers that are overpriced in the card shop.

Build a lineup was a fun mission. It worked well with call your shot as well.

I agree with everything you said, except for the variant cards. I personally think they ruined the game. But everything else you said is spot on.

Completely agree and have been having the same thought. Past years you would open up the game at least once a week and have a bunch of missions.

Now every pack is just 6 duplicate cards that are useless.

Thank you! And they don't seem to care or even comment. There has been a lot of this same talk on Discord and not a peep from anyone at OOTP. I am very quickly losing interest...not that anyone cares.

I really appreciate you letting us know. At the same time, it would be really helpful to get some communications around whether or not the Mission schedule is intentionally being scaled back, or if there's plans to increase the cadence and relevance of Missions, or just what the plan is in general. There's been communication in past years about these sorts of things and right now a lot of the whiplash for players is coming from their expectations being challenged with no communication as to what's going on.

I do not have that information at this time, but I think missions will come when they come.

Also, new missions are live now!

I agree with some of the earlier posts, something just feels off this year.

15 new missions today, none of which are close to being completable added to the 15 I had left going into today that weren't all that close to being completed. By that I mean the cost to acquire the cards needed is sometimes up to 5 times the value of the mission reward - that just feels like a bad investment.

It felt like in the past if we got 15 missions and had a relatively deep set of cards, 2-3 would be completed off the bat, another 2-3 close but need a little work, and the rest would be a challenge. Right now it's a bunch of stuff that won't be completed any time soon added on to others that won't be completed any time soon. It just feels like spinning wheels.

It doesn't help that of the 5-10 daily Twitch packs, 8 of those will just have 6 duplicate cards of little to no value and the few that are new somehow won't apply to any missions anywhere. This is the first time that it feels like PT is kind of just wasting time with nothing to do in it except try to sell all of the cards I have at their L10 value before someone comes on and lists them for 6 for no apparent reason other than to be a tool. Which, seriously, anyone who posts a card for sale at a price that will earn them LESS than the quick sell amount should be forced to take a year off from the game to think about what they've done.

And now that I've vented I will return to playing this game 16 hours a day as if it's my job.

Venting is pointless at this point. They don't listen anway, so save your breath.

You cannot reeive less than quicksell value for selling a card. The minimum you can receive for a sale is the quicksell value.

So, if you sell, say, a Gold card for 1,001, you will get 1,000 for the sale.

True, but if you list that card for 1001 then you're just spinning your wheels. You could get the same amount immediately without having to wait for a buyer.

And then you ruin it for everyone else. Because then your not making any money on the card.

If I were the type who believed in "luck" then I'd say you're using up all of yours early in the cycle.

I've been selling cards at minimum because I figured it helped people who needed the cards... :/

Granted, that's limited to duplicates. And if there's a buy order, I still get the whole buy order price (minus tax), so I'm not really costing myself anything as far as I can tell.
