Listening to "Effectively Wild" podcast #1530 with Markus telling the OOTP story -- great to hear the origin story, the challenges, and the successes.

Been away for a few years.....how has the game changed since 2020?

Hey, my first year was 2020, as in OOTP saving me from the isolation of the pandemic. So, I can only speak to the last five versions. Each year, it's been more evolution than revolution. More features added, many other aspects of the game engine refined, better historical choices, and the graphics and mods like stadiums and uniforms have come a long way. If you play a lot of games, sim in various ways, you'll surely appreciate the refinements. Oh and there is now Perfect Team (not my thing) and OOTP GO! (great for the iPad and phone).
I've been stunned by the customer service (as a newbie I couldn't figure something out, and Markus reached out), and impressed by how the developers listen to the community, chattering mass of fanatics that we are. For me, a large part of the experience is interacting with others through the forums. To hear many long-term players describe their experience, the developers have managed to update and broaden the game experience, with bells and whistles to satisfy a diverse worldwide market, while keeping the fundamentals. In my experience, that level of commitment and dedication and enthusiasm is rare in the business world.

Hey!! Thank you for your comment! I have been playing since about 2004, but life has taken a lot of my free time. (No regrets, can't get that time back with my kids.) I'm likely going to purchase the latest iteration of the game to play this summer. I'm looking forward to getting back into it, it's been a minute.

No question time with kids is #1 (and #2 and #3 in my case, with three boys, now grown). For me now it's time with (five - six on the way) grandkids. I introduced my oldest grandson, who is 7, to OOTP. He loves it. Best of both worlds.

Its IS the best of both worlds! I have 2 grandkids from my oldest son (stepson) and I will share OOTP with them when they get a little older. They are 4 and 2 right now. Congrats on your family, my friend!

Not sure how I hadn't seen this thread before, or remembered I had, but wow.....had 'em all and played 'em all. Had a hand in the early ones, what an awesome trip down memory lane thanks to everyone who's been involved from development to just spending hours playing....the BEST baseball game w/o question.
