complete games
I notice I have an unusual number of complete games 54 out of 96 games anyone else notice this Kevin Brown 15 out of 21 starts.

Yes, the number of complete games is up, even by 1967 standards. I'm looking at a complete game rate of 21% in my leagues. 1967 rate was 12% (remembering that there are two starting pitchers per game). I'd put it down to not having injuries, emergency starters, double-headers, or fringe pitchers with low stamina starting in PT. All of that combines to ensure that quality, high-stamina pitchers are starting the vast majority of games.
One of my Stiebs just tossed a complete-game win despite coughing up four runs on twelve hits. 105 pitches. Two double plays and a triple play (3000 PP, woo hoo!) to back him. Last edited by LeeD; 05-09-2025 at 12:01 AM. |

I've got another Stieb in Iron league who's thrown 90 innings in ten starts. Only seven complete games, though. He went 8 and the 8 1/3 in his two losses but made up for it with 10 2/3 in another start (141 pitches). Ah, the good old days, when pitchers were expected to finish what they started.
