Walton Cruise 1914
Thank you very much for the enhanced Ray Pierce image.
Attached is a 1924 image of left handed hitting, right handed throwing outfielder Walton Cruise from his final Major League season with the Boston Braves. Cruise made his debut with the 1914 St. Louis Cardinals. He appeared in 95 games split between centre and left field. Cruise reappeared in 1916 playing in just 3 games. In 1917 he established himself as the Cardinals starting centre fielder appearing in a career high 153 games with 590 plate appearances, 187 more than his career second highest. However he returned as a back-up outfielder in 1918 before being purchased by the Boston Braves in 1919 after appearing just 7 times with the Cardinals that season. Cruise became the Braves starting left fielder in 1919 and clean up hitter in 1920 starting in right field. 1921 was clearly his best season moving back to left and setting career highs in average, on base, slugging and OPS, posting impressive figures of .346, .429, .503 and .932. In 1922 he moved up a place in the batting order hitting 3rd mainly back in right field. In 1923 his productivity diminished significantly appearing just 21 times before his final 1924 season with 9 games played. |

You or palette (or both) did a great job on this. Nice detail and color separation. |

Eddie Dyer 1922
Thank you for the superb Cruise upgrade.
Attached is a 1924 image of Eddie Dyer with the St. Louis Cardinals. A left handed pitcher and sometime outfielder who is best known in a managerial role. Dyer made his Major league debut in July 1922 appearing in 2 games, pitching 3 plus innings and giving up 1 earned run. In 1923 his appearances doubled and was given the opportunity to start 3 games, one of which resulted in a shutout. His total innings pitched increased to 22 and he also pitched a second complete game. 1924 was clearly his most productive year completing well over 100 innings for the only time in his career accompanied by a 8-11 record. He started 15 games 7 of which were completed. In 1925 his role switched to more of a reliever than a starter and finished 18 games along with 3 saves. In 1926 he made just 6 appearances and in 1927 only 1. His career record was 15-15 with a 4.76 ERA, all with the Cardinals. Last edited by UKBaseballfan; 05-08-2025 at 03:26 AM. |

Here are a few options ca. 1946-47, and another from 1948.

Russ Meyer 1946
Here is a portrait option, unfortunately I don't know which year it is from. There is also the 1956 Topps option and an alternate 1956 Trading card option.

Been working to try to make something out of this but so far, everything has come out in "monster mode". I went back to what I assume is the original here. That one was maybe slightly better but still pretty bad. I'm thinking that pulling him from that "Little Four" photo on the same page might give a better result. |
