Variant boost card or cards

When you add a card to a variant card boost do you lose the card you add? Like if the card takes points to level up the card? Sorry I’m new to the variant boost cards.like if I used the 100 overall acuna card to add points to a variant card.

This post will help. Short answer, yes. The cards you use to add to a variant boost are gone forever once they're used. It also says it in the game once you have the selection of cards in front of you.
