This game has become more about who has the deepest pockets and less about skill. Tired of making it to the semi's of tournaments on a regular basis only to get bounced by a team of supped up variants...flame away...end rant..

Can’t disagree with you. No flaming here. In fact, I wrote a post early to honestly find out what people get out of it since A) you can’t use the game after a new version comes out so all you spent is gone, and B) you get no money for winning and C) you get nothing for even losing like something nice would be good to help you build a better team.

Variants and combinators definitely hurt the competitiveness of the game. The auction house seems to have made this worse as low dangling players are even harder to obtain.

It is what it is, don't bring a knife to a gun fight. Thie devs are running a business here and these profits keep the game going, this ain't a socialist country and it's not a socialist game. Might be nice if there was some sort of FTP only option but again, these people are earning a living here, good for them, and good for the future of OOTP.

Do you think 'real baseball' doesn't have whales? That just makes beating the Yankees and Dodgers of the world that much sweeter of a victory and a true example of 'skill'

I can still find the occasional steal on the Variant list, at least they changed that.

My 3rd year playing Perfect Team in last 6 years. Haven't spent a penny. Got 3 100 and one 99 (3 non live and one Live) in packs won through log in reward, tournaments, and Challenge league. Sold the 2 100 (one was Bill Dickey for 100K), have huge money in the bank.

And that is why the game continues to lose players. They make a game for 200 people and tell everyone else to go f#$k themselves. So be it.

This is my frustration, too. Not just a lack of ideas to increase competitiveness and, consequently, enjoyment for FTP but a refusal to implement any ideas.

The ATL live mission is a great example. I grind all the twitch reward packs and try to sell wisely and all of that. I'm still 50k points from completing ATL Live 1. That isn't necessarily a problem except by the time that I grind to get the reward, the reward card will be largely unplayable in competitive silver leagues. So I don't even really get to enjoy completing the mission.

And the thing of it is, is that if I felt that I was able to be competitive, I would be more inclined to spend money. Not whale money, but money none the less. Being so far out of it, so early in the season, and no way to get more that the 5 packs on a daily basis if I choose to watch the streams, makes the game less and less enjoyable. In 23 &24, I was either first or second for the most tournaments wins during the season, and because I felt that I was just a couple of cards away, I spent money. Now you have teams spending hundreds of dollars on a tournament team. Just dont get it.

That's my general feeling as well, I'm not motivated throwing money at a bad team, but willing to spend if I'm engaged....

I was really really lucky opening $100 of packs opening day, must have gotten 4-5 diamonds in the first 50 packs, then in the next 25 I got a variant Home Run Baker, a real lottery ticket. The packs kept running hot with more diamonds and plunked down another $100 like it's a hot blackjack table and pulled Aaron Judge and a bunch more nice diamonds...Then worked on rushing the Live quests and add in a Chris Sale I pulled from reward Silver and all the completion cards plus a Wagner and Stieb and the team was off to Diamond in the first wave.

I do miss the original flat system, it was possible to win multiple Perfect Championships without being a whale or win tourneys or get super lucky or any of that...

I will say goofing around solving the Beta puzzle and seeing many of the cards and most importantly how to rush the Live Mission to completion was a tremendous help, it was clear the LA and ATL missions were the bottlenecks and to jump on them aggressively before they developed.

Why do americans always bring up socialism? You could be talking about potatoes and someone will say, we dont use socialist potatoes in america!

I am sure it is less then 200. Unfortunately, regardless of what they say, the game, PT specifically, is in decline, 7300 teams this year, even after the release of GO! They might pick some up when they cut the price of the game, but they did it themselves when they began to cater to the few and not the many.

I don't understand the pricing of Atlanta live 1. The prices are way worse than at release and simply aren't coming down. I would really like to understand the math of how these bottlenecks develop.

My free to play team is 5 cards away and it looks like it could be a month or more.

They are created on purpose to force you to spend money in you don't wont to wait for the card prices to come down. You will notice several of them throughout the course of the cycle. You will see quite a few more over the coming months.

If the cards are equal in quantity, the prices should be coming down. That's what I don't understand. Why ATL when all the other teams are not this way?
