I understand that kind of thing happens, but it doesn't happen to 6-7 legitimate closers over their careers all in the same season. I do know there are outliers like John Smoltz, who went from starter to closer and back to starter. I know your example of Nick Martinez is a good example, but he was a middle reliever and not a career closer. That's the issue I was concerned with. But, in the end it's not a major issue for me. It was just concerning seeing multiple career closers being made starting pitchers in the same season.
Matt Arnold's comment, "
