Meta Players?
Is there like a website or something that provides data on which players are the meta players for each tier (iron, bronze, silver, etc.)?
I need help figuring out who the best players are in each tier and there isn’t anyone putting videos out on YouTube about this topic. I want to figure out which cards I should be buying in the auction house to build good tournament rosters. Any help would be much appreciated. I know MLB The Show has a website where you can see how often players are being used and stuff, so I just wanted to know if there is anything like that for OOTP. Thank you! |

To be honest, the best way to do that is to join one of the tournaments you're interested in a couple times to get a feel for who the best players are on the winning rosters, and try to base your rosters on those.

The one guy I've found that has been great for me for silver or gold tournaments is Paul Dejong from the Derek Jeter Mission. I've seen him hit .300 with tons of power a bunch of times now (and nearly lead the league in homeruns in iron league last season).

Dejong always seems to have a sneaky good card for tournaments. Good power for a middle infielder.

Genius! I read this today, grabbed a copy for like 54pp and put him in my lineup. I didn't win, but for the tourney he hit: 438avg, 1.069ops, 1 double, 1 triple, 4 RBIs, and no errors at SS.

Enter a large tournament and upon completion, view and/or download the Sortable Stats. You will instantly see which players are used most often. Then, if you are an Excel junkie, you can download them every so often and use a vLookup function to total up stats to REALLY see not just who's popular, but who actually performs well.
I'll say this, using an Excel spreadsheet, you can see there are many "meta" players who are not nearly as good as many think they are. BTW, that still doesn't mean I've been any more successful at winning tourneys, lol. Last edited by revo; 04-08-2025 at 09:03 AM. |
