Joe Schultz 1912
Thank you for your effort in respect of a difficult source image.
Attached is a 1924 image of Joe Schultz with the Philadelphia Phillies, a year when he also spent time with the Cardinals. Right handed hitter Schultz's career spanned over 13 years but only once did he accumulate more than 100 hits. Primarily an outfielder there were 2 gaps in his amounting Major League appearances where in 3 full seasons he never made an appearance in the big leagues. He would have played for every National League team if he had worn the colors of the New York Giants. He made his debut, at 18, with the 1912 Boston Braves appearing in 4 games at second base, 2 of which were starts. In 1913, 5 of his 9 appearances were as a starter in the outfield. Missing 1914 he was back with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1915 where he made 27 of his 28 appearances that season. The solitary other ticked off the Chicago Cubs in his list of teams. All his 1915 appearances were as an infielder predominately at second base. In 1916 he appeared in 77 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates, playing 24 times at both second and third base with a few appearances in the outfield. After a 2 year gap he was back in 1919 to begin his most productive Major League stint with the St. Louis Cardinals. He raised his then career high appearances to 88 games, most often seen in right field. In 1920 he ,more than other player, was the Cardinals lead-off batter and right fielder appearing 99 times. He lost his status as a starting outfielder in 1921 but regained that role in 1922 when he featured in his career high 112 games most often batting in the 5 position as the Cardinals starting right fielder. He only appeared in 2 games with the Cardinals in 1923 and 12 in 1924 before his mid-season move to the Philadelphia Phillies. For the remainder of that season he established himself as the clean-up hitter and starting left-fielder with the Phillies. In 1925, his final year, he played 24 times for the Phillies before another mid-season move to finish out his career with the Cincinnati Reds. Last edited by UKBaseballfan; 03-15-2025 at 03:04 AM. |

Jack Berly 1924
Superb upgrade in respect of Joe Schultz, thank you.
Another challenging image to work on, I suspect. This is another image extracted from a team photo. The team photo in this case being of the 1924 St. Louis Cardinals and it depicts Jack Berly in his initial season. The 21 year old right handed pitcher finished the 4 games he appeared in relief in 1924. He did not appear again in the Majors until 1931 when he pitched over 100 innings for the New York Giants. He posted a 7-8 record with a 3.88 ERA. In 1932 and 1933 he appeared in a combined total of 34 games including 7 starts with the Philadelphia Phillies. Roger Bowman 1949
Roger Clinton Bowman with Pittsburgh Pirates. I was unable to locate a superior candidate for this request I went to work on the Bowman card. I found a larger version on Checkoutmycards.com and cropped it. I brightened the colors and then ran it through the Deepnostalgia.ai upscaler. With a few tweaks, I think it turned out pretty all right. |

I'm happy with the face but I believe the cap and uniform should have pinstripes but there was not enough info in the starting image to pull those out. |

Frank Snyder 1912
Quote:
This is an image of veteran catcher Frank Snyder with the 1924 New York Giants. Right handed catcher Snyder's prominent Major League career extended over 16 seasons following his 1912 debut with the St. Louis Cardinals as an 18 year old. He appeared in a total of 1392 games split between the Cardinals and Giants, more with the Giants. He established himself as the Cardinals starting catcher in 1914, appearing in a career high in both games and total bases the following 1915 season. Displaced in a starting role in 1918 he moved to the Giants during the 1919 season. Batting .320 in 1921 he again established himself as a starter after serving as a back-up to Earl Smith in 1920. 1922 could be described as his career year as he upped that average to .343. In 1923 he drove in a career high 63 runs, from the 8 place, but his batting average dipped significantly. He rebounded in 1924 again batting above .300 but 1925 turned out to be his final year as a starter as his average again fell to .240. After spending 1926 as a reserve with the Giants he finished his career in 1927 back with the Cardinals. Last edited by UKBaseballfan; 03-20-2025 at 01:16 AM. |

Can some color be added to John Rocker? Do not think there are any photos of Him in a Rays Uni. Was in 4 games with them. I think like only 5 Innings. Thank You in advance.
