I also make them 30+ years old or whatever the range is in that “create player” option. So they are well past developing. Enjoy the magic of these not-so-local townies stepping out of the bleachers to fill a missing roster spot as they use the Ice Rounders game skills of their youth, honed playing in the icy lava field of their homeland, as they show their talents against the mustachioed local 9. !

I thought about it in February, and decided that I am sticking with 25. I started with 18 and was preordering every year until now.
Every year it feels like the current version of the game is most enjoyable only after 6-8 month of patching. I am happy with current 25 and I will wait for version 26 to hit the end of season sale. If by then I get back to buying American, I will gladly pay for 26. |

The fielding decline issue for current players remains. Tough one to squash. They're working on it.

I really haven't noticed the fielding issue anymore in 25, after you pointed it out last year and they did some tweaking. Does this mean, the new feature Matt spoke of has brought the issue back again? In comparison to earlier versions, OOTP25 probably imports the fewest number of modern day players per draft for random debut leagues.

Funny thing, recently simmed the 2024 season, the take over a team starting in the offseason. Team I took over, in a 3 week period (August to Sept) signed 31 catchers and sent them to the ACL

Nice thread David, interesting posts. I usually start a new league when the new OOTP is newly released but it can be frustrating for a couple months. I guess I’m one of those that like to check out the shiny object.

Oh, I've been that shiny object person for years and years now. Time to try and break that cycle.

I would stick with 25 for the time being. I don't think it is worth paying full price for what seems like a minor update of the same game. I started with 23 and routinely go back to my old save. Honestly, 23 plays and feels just the same. There are AAA standalone titles for the same price. I think it is important to support the developers, but I also think it is healthy to remind them that we expect more for our money.

Why not play it when you've paid for it & OOTP allows you to. i might be different than most bc I can just sit on my couch all day and play both. Also I love OOTP as I'm a baseball geek |

I’ve been away since 14 so I of course bought 26 but the way I always do it is keep the current version and then buy the new one once it’s done being patched and it’s on sale at the end of the year. I view it as supporting the developers as well as my pocket book. I also don’t like risking long term saves to any bugs that need to be ironed out.

Anyone else? Yeah, me.
Not because of anything about OOTP 26, mind you. I am sure that they will refine it to the usual level of excellence. It's just that after so many years, I have grown tired of the cycle. It has, for one reason or another, cost me my leagues in the process but that's not it. Let's see if I can put my finger on it. I LIKE OOTP 25. It fulfills my needs for professional baseball simulation and I enjoy it a lot. I have OOTP 25 customized the way that I want it (an unbelievable amount of contortions went into it) and it is almost fully debugged. The two minor cosmetic issues that I brought to their attention, twice, remain but I will live with them. (This does not include the headline bleed in the league newspaper which has been a problem for years now, despite multiple complaints from users, but I don't use it.) I just took a peek over at the OOTP 26 Tech Support thread. The usual stuff that will take months and many patches to resolve. I just don't want to go through the process anymore. So, why am I saying all this? For probably the same reason that the OP had in making this thread. Not for justification or moral support from others, but to get it out there in writing for myself, to clarify my decision. OOTP 25 is it for me. I don't fear for OOTPD in the least, however. They have plenty of ongoing customers and new ones flocking in all the time. I wish them well.
