Pitcher skills degrading too aggressively?

I'm into 2028 of my standard MLB game, and it seems that pitchers skills are trending downwards way too frequently.

I have the ratings set to stars, and if I look at a sorted list on overall rating for batters only there are 9 rated 5, 2 rated 4.5 and 15 rated 4.

If I sort on pitchers instead there are 0 rated 5, 0 rated 4.5 and 4 rated 4 (all relievers). For starting pitchers the top 9 players are rated 3.5.

Anecdotally it seems like the scouting history for every established starting pitcher I look at is a sea of red negatives!

If I sort on potential rating there are 20 pitchers rated 5, with the oldest of those being 24 (2 players) and the next oldest 20!

This seems really weird to me - maybe the aging/ability curve for pitching is too harsh?

Devs have mentioned that they aren't currently happy with Development/Aging and updates will be coming in patches.

If we have a current standard game just started will a future patch apply or do you have to start a new game?

Once the patch is out it’ll work for any games that are already started
