Does OOTP follow history?

I had a question I never thought of before in all my years of playing OOTP....
Does OOTP follow history as it happened? In other words, say I want to start a historical league to just spectate starting with the 1976 Royals. As I go through the years, will the game follow history by making the same trades, free agents and so on? Like...will C Darrell Porter leave the Brewers and sign with the Royals in 1977? And so on...?

If you use real transactions, yes Porter will leave the Brewers and sign with the Royals

Like David said, with real transactions, yes you will see the trades, FA signings, and all of that. However, wins and losses and world series will not be the same as history.
