Pitchers and catchers reporting…we are FINALLY here! Yay!!
Here is your VALENTINES DAY GIFT!!!

*** Updated file will be posted ~2/14 ***

I appreciate many of you following along the past four months getting us to this point. For those that are new….welcome!! For those that have been on the journey together thank you for all of the support and love. I share my passion for baseball and rosters with my OOTP brethren. This update contains:

- Transactions as of ~2/13/25

- I’ve moved JD Martinez, Justin Turner back to free agents (so this update should be correct on remaining free agents, etc)

- Ratings/potentials based on 2024 season and/or 2025 projections

- R/L Splits for most of MLB batters

- Updates to NRI and minor league players (as best as possible from FanGraphs)

- Updated Top 100 Prospects per Baseball America

- Updated rating/potentials for Top 30 prospects all 30 organizations per Baseball America scouting reports

- Placed Top 100 IAFA on correct teams. Scouting reports based on Baseball America and MLB Pipeline

- Accurate Rule 5 selections and tagged with former team if player moved off existing team active roster

- Updates around ~1500 players options and MLB service time. This is HUGE. Many players are off. I used an export from Fangraphs depth charts to update.

- Accurate 2025 MLB schedule (*** the opening series is rolled in to regular season games with Dodgers & Cubs)

- Updates MLB 2025 draft order (*** this should be mostly accurate…may need to adjust with signings past few weeks)

- Calibrations for players at AAA and AA levels

- Updates to the player popularity ratings

- Updates to some injury proneness and different areas.

- Speed ratings based on Baseball Savant Sprint speeds for at least MLB players who qualified

- Updates to injuries based on current available information

- Updates to Top 50 MLB draft prospects

- Updates to market sizes

- Updates to budgets

If not specifically called out above, I lean heavily on in this order:

- Baseball America
- Baseball Savant
- FanGraphs
- MLB Pipeline
- MLB Trade Rumors
- Various Baseball podcasts/team-specific sites

I’ve had many people ask me how I do what I do…tons of research, tons of update queries leveraging databases to update ratings/potentials, and many many MANY other checks.

As the new version of OOTP is due out next month this will likely be the last update. No worries…you will be able to import this universe to OOTP26 if you like!

I do wonder if there is a way to randomize the offers that you get so you don't have to go to commissioner mode to join an MLB team? Beyond my paygrade tho lol

Few notes:

- 40 man rosters are not 100% identical to real MLB. OOTP struggles with some fringe players on 40 man, and if at full 40 man by default will start waiving players to shuffle around roster. I believe all 40 man rosters I have a few slots available (usually 2-3+) to accommodate.

- I've checked CBS Sports, ESPN, and MLB Trade Rumors for injuries. I believe I've captured these as accurate as possible as of 2/13 evening.

- After you select your team, please remember to enable CPU teams to make AI changes. This is off by default so I can set rosters.

- Check settings like trades, etc and adjust to your liking. I believe by default I have this set to very low.

- One last minute thing added in is player number retirements scheduled for this year. I may have missed some, but hopefully captured majority.

- A's and Rays in my universe have actual permanent fictional stadiums. If you want to have 2025 accurate just change them to Sutter Field for A's, and George Steinbrenner Field for Rays. If you make this change, I would also highly suggest giving both teams some Cash reserves to account for tiny attendance numbers. Maybe an extra $15M+ ??

- As noted earlier, this will probably be my last update for the 2025 season. Personally I plan to start my season in OOTP25, then import to OOTP26 once it makes sense to transfer over.

- For the most part, all impactful free agents have signed. Some veterans like Justin Turner, JD Martinez, Brendan Rodgers, Jose Iglesias are still out there, along with pitchers like Andrew Heaney, Lance Lynn, Kyle Gibson, Spencer Turnbull, Craig Kimbrel, Kyle Finnegan, Andrew Chafin, etc. I have them listed as free agents, however feel free to move to teams that have been connected to them, have a need, and have budget space if you want ultimate reality. For example, I don't see several of these players signing with a rebuilding team like Miami, but that may occur in OOTP if team has budget space. Or just start your world and let the AI take control - your call!

Also, Roki Sasaki seems a bit off...based on my search, he does not possess a curveball...also his individual pitch ratings seem a bit high...here is what i am using...

Baseball America has him with a four pitch mix, I’d default to them over almost any other site or source, especially for prospects.

I did read somewhere that Sasaki used to throw a curveball, but abandoned it and has not thrown it in recent seasons, and now only throws the fastball, slider and splitter.

Well…
I’m going through mostly the NRI list and placing any that I’ve missed. I’m almost through the AL, then will review NL.
I’ve also updated a few player ratings/potentials. You guys had some good feedback on Sasaki so I’m going to review him (and specifically pitch mix).

Most teams players are reporting either today or tomorrow so we’ve had a few more free agents sign. Also have updated injury news….I’ve updated those. Some injuries are ambiguous so I’ve done my best to predict how long player will potentially be out.

Plan will be to release this version probably sometime tomorrow.

THEN I’ll (probably) start my season
