Re-Installing OOTP
I keep my OOTP game on an external drive. But when updating and adding patches I would sometimes put them in different sub-folders in my OOTP folder this caused a complete mess. This is how I fixed it.
1. Made sure I had a copy of my license in a desktop text file, that is easy to find. 2. I found the correct back up folder and moved in to a new location. I also renamed to make it easier to find. * I did forget to copy my settings. 3 I went to settings and un-licensed the game. 4. I ran an uninstall program, and deleted any files that were left over. 5. This step is probably not necessary but I did it anyways. I restarted my PC. 6. I found the latest patch from this forum, and downloaded it. In case you didn't know the patch contains the complete game. 7. I Installed the game to the external drive, in The OOTP folder. 8. I started the game 9 Copy and Pasted the license information. 10 I went to the restore from back up. Chose the folder I saved to earlier, 10a Once that loaded I did a back up to the default folder. 11. I changed all my settings* 12 Backed up again. 13. Started my next game, and changed all my in game settings, exited and backed up again. Everything was good to go. It runs faster . I hope this helps someone. Bob H
