Personalities Part II

I know in leagues where all players are fictitious, all personalities are made up. But what about real players? I am currently playing a 1971 season with both real and fictional players, and one of my players, Pete Rose personality ratings are as follows: LEADERSHIP - low, LOYALTY - normal, FINANCIAL AMBITION - low, WORK ETHIC - low, INTELLIGENCE - low, PERSONALITY - unmotivated.
Hard to believe Charlie Hustle is listed as unmotivated, assuming that the rating is baseball related. Not sure about the other ratings. Thoughts? It's only my second season, and I am still discovering many facets of this game.

The personalities in a historical game are fictional, i.e. assigned with no relationship to reality. My suggestion is to play historical games with personality and associated mechanics disabled.

Actually the personalities for real players are randomly assigned, if you import the same player and same year a number of times, you get a bunch of different results. My guess is that they do this so as not to offend anyone and invite lawsuits, since we are talking about real people here.

But I think, if somebody wants to take it up, we should start a thread assigning personality types to some of the more well-known players. For example, we know Cobb had a temper, Ruth was gregarious, Musial was happy-go-lucky, Gehrig was stoic, Reggie was outspoken, Bonds could be difficult, Manny was, well, Manny, etc.

Twins_34 provided the chart to at least group players (I suspect the vast majority of them should default to "normal")

This forum has really helped in learning the details of the game. I really appreciate the input. I am just about to finish to finish up the 1971 season in my 70's Decade save. I finished below 500 in 1970, but my magic number is 2 in this season. Managing the Pirates, but they don't really resemble the original World Champions anymore. The only remaining players are Stargell, Clemente, Sanguillen, Patek, Ellis and Giusti. I like trading!!! Since the personalities are random, I will turn it OFF for the upcoming season, but I will leave it alone for this year. I don't want to mess up a good thing. Less than 2 weeks to go.

It's always been said that for Football Manager, real player personalities had to either be randomized or all import as neutral/positive to avoid any potential litigation

Some of the traits are realistic. Brooks Robinson - Loyal, local fanbase high.
those seem to be consistent no matter what year a play for certain players.
that is easy to figure out based on players playing for 1 team.

Anyone that turned out to be a manager should have higher intelligience.

I have tried to set them but they keep getting overwritten.
Plus traits should a times change over the years as player develop or encounter new managers.

One thing I found interesting about personalities is I had a pitcher once, might have been Bill Caudill I think, who was "Leader" if you left his position as reliever/closer but "Captain" if you switched it to a starting pitcher. Whenever you switched positions, the personality would change with it lol.

It is about RP's for some odd reason do not get the trait, but if you set them in the role of Closer or SP, since they are top roles, they get the captain role. This is pretty interesting info tbh.
