I changed a render option to an experimental mode and now my game won’t load when I start it up. I uninstalled it and the issue persisted. Anyone know a fix?

Likely it is remembering that option's bad setting even after uninstalling. What specifically was done (to the best you can recall) and what exactly happens when you try to open the game?
I'm mostly asking because OOTP developers over the years have seen just about everything but might need more information to give you a specific solution to reset the game (once they are online and see this).

It just loads indefinitely on the startup screen and if I try to go full screen it’s just a red screen.

So you can see the Main screen and the progress bar at the top just stalls? If so, what is it loading when it hangs?
EDIT: and what settings did you change, as best you can remember?

Its the first screen that pops up with all the logos of the teams and there’s a baseball that rotates to signify the game is loading.

If on Windows, when you uninstalled, did you ensure the OOTPD folder within AppData was also removed? Sounds like your app config has a corrupt line.

I'm not sure. Try searching for "app.cfg" on your file system and see if you can find the specific OOTPD folder that way.
EDIT: Looks like ~/Library is the equivalent. Last edited by Cod; 01-09-2025 at 12:48 AM. |

I ran into this issue yesterday. There really should be a warning that the fastblit setting could potentially make the game unplayable on Mac. Hopefully you've already found the fix.
I fixed it by editing the app.cfg file, as was suggested above. Just search "Out of the Park Developments" in your Spotlight search, which should you take to a folder with a "config" subfolder. In there, you'll find the app.cfg file. Open it in a text editor program and change the "OpenGL" value to 0. Your game should start. Last edited by Dorfmann; 01-27-2025 at 10:19 PM. |
