My team doesn't steal bases?!

This must be a bug or something I’m overlooking. I’m playing the games myself, but I only hit the space button, meaning I’m siming at-bat. I’m only managing the bullpen and pinch hitters. It is 45 games into the season and I just noticed that my team doesn’t have a single stolen base, despite having base stealing set to max in the strategy settings. Is this working as intended?

Edit: Just to confirm. It seems that at-bat, which sims one batter's turn at a time, does not generate any stealing attempts. If you are like me and simulate one at-bat at a time, you will finish the season with ZERO stolen bases. That's very frustrating.

I play every single game hitting only spacebar and can confirm your team will steal bases. What are your settings when you start the game ? When you go into a game at the same time you decide lineups you should have a series of dropdowns to assign different aspects of managerial duties to either yourself or the AI. It should be located right above your lineup and there should be 5-6 of them. If all you want is to handle substitutions (which is what I do), then make sure everything is assigned to the AI except substitutions. One of them is to handle baserunning. With that setting assigned to the AI, they AI will signal your players for some steals.

If you are managing the games, then it's up to you to send the runner. It will be one of the options along the top.

In the pregame screen, on the Options & Preview Tab (see attached image), you can delegate certain tasks, such as baserunning, to one of your coaches.
