I thought this was fixed?
I am running a standard MLB game, with no changes to any of the default settings (except renaming some of the annual awards to their correct names). Despite how many times I start a new save or update the game, relievers are still getting crazy contracts. Wasn't this bug supposed to be fixed in a prior patch?
I've attached a screenshot of current relievers by salary. Players with blue marks next to their names all signed in the first offseason. Is there anything I can do to make reliever contracts more realistic? |

What version/build of the game do you have?
(Asking because this is something that was addressed previously in a patch, so you want to make sure you are up to date) |

In my league I have two closers making 19-20 mil. Both are absolute studs. The other stud closers, three of them, are making in the 13 to 15 range. Most other RP are well under 10 mil. with top guys topping out around 9 mil.
I do have four other RP/CL making in the 20 mil range. All of those contracts were long term deals signed when the P was a starter and doing quite well. Two of those are doing quite well as closers and moved there due to loss of stamina. The other two are contracts teams are stuck with after the player suffered a decline in abilities, though the teams did get some value in the first few years of those contracts. In short I'm not seeing anything like what you are showing in your screen shot. FWIW I play with the Steam version and am always on the latest official patch.

Josh hader signed a 19 million dollar contract in real life, So I don't really see the problem here not to mention if any of those guys have 3 pitches and they have At least Orange stamina, they can start games, It makes them more valuable. This is Kind of a nitpicking

Now, if they have crappy stuff, crappy movement, and crappy control and ghetting paid 19mil, that is an issue, but if they have 65+ stuff, 60+ movement, and like 45 control, they are probably be rated a 3 star but, that is still one really good reliever that 25 is tanking in ratings because of the low control.

According to Sportrac, there were 12 relievers last year who made $10M+ plus a year, that includes the elite closers and some starters turned relievers. I never experienced this in any of the prior versions of OOTP (playing since v11). |

I've had mixed feelings about this as well, but reviewing some of the contracts big arms are getting.. it's walking the line of credibility.
I'm more skeptical of frequent velocity changes and what was fixed there. These are very minor nits. |

Are these unrealistic contracts happening in fictional leagues?

i'd wager only 5 bad RP ccntracts per offseason in real life would be a good year, lol.
that in addition to the fact some ofthese players might be performing well or maybe a team was desperate and in "win-mode" now mode or some other set of factors that made overpaying a reality... multiple teams bidding and overall supply and demand are relatively important here too.. the point is it's quite complicated to get all in a twist about a handful of contracts in 1 offseason. gonna need more than that. seems sweed's results are fine by comparison, too. if it were a bug it'd be the same for all and not a whimsical distribution of problems. stats don't lie in this case, but your sample is far too small. |

I think I might have been unclear in my original post. The issues I am seeing happen every time I start a new "real" franchise and happens every offseason.
There are always bad contracts, but I am seeing too many middle relievers demanding $13M+ at the start of free agency and end up signing contracts in line or higher than their demands. I have not seen this in any of the previous versions of OOTP. |
