Minor League Teams Disappeared

I have been playing a career with a team since 1979 starting with either OOTP 22 or 23. I have always kept up with updates. As I finished the 2019 season, I updated to the new Version - 25.11 Build 98. When the season was over and I proceeded to the start of the offseason, it was immediately noted that ALL minor league teams for all major league teams had disappeared including the AI teams. I still have all the players in my system but they have nowhere to play so all the minor league players are refusing minor league extensions. How do I get the minor league teams back?

I created a new league in 2019 and ran it to the end of the year then began the off season and again all minor league teams are gone. I cannot continue my career without minor league teams!

There was no minor league season in 2020 due to Covid, the historical database is set up to mimic reality.

You might be able to go in and add some fictional minor leagues pretty easily?

League Settings --> League & Teams --> League Actions drop-down (right side)

When you move on to 2021, the fictional leagues should be removed and the real life minor leagues should return.

Re-posting my reply to a similar recent thread... as an alternative to setting up a fictional minors for one year...

1. Make copies of the milbleagues.csv, milbteams.csv, and era_stats_minors.txt files.

2. Edit those so the 2020 minors exist in them. (The easiest way to do this would be to just copy the leagues, teams, stats, etc., from 2019 and use those for 2020; thus, all affiliations would be identical to 2019, etc..., but there could be other approaches to this.)

3. Test it out before you commit your saved league to this... I don't really know what will happen to players at the end of the 2019 season. After testing you find that you need to make some tweaks to freeze organizations' rosters & so forth...

It'd be like eliminating the strikes in '81 or '94: It's not really historical to do that, but it's possible. In this case the workaround is a bit more complicated (than removing the strikes; whereas the '81 & '94 workarounds pretty much involve only changing to where you're using the 'actual' rather than 'as played' schedules), but it's doable... Oh, and you'll most-likely need to play with 3- or 5-year recalc enabled, at least from before you hit the 2019-2020 offseason and through the end of the 2020 season...

New note: One benefit of the above is that when you advance to 2021 the connections and history from 2020 and earlier will remain. With fictional leagues, that may be broken (depending upon the details of your approach).

What if one was to simply turn off the option for maintain historical minors some time during the 2019 season(may have to turn off the option for historical expansion as well)? Since the option is off, wouldn't the game just leave the 2019 league format as is? Then it could be turned back on during the 2020 season forward. Not sure if this would work, but it seems like it would.

Make sense to me... I would switch to no minor league mode after the WS and before the first day of the off-season in 2019 and switch back to minor league at the same time in 2020. The game load the leagues structure and the new players that day so in theory if you change before the game won't do the change.

I don't use minor league the way I play the game but if you tell the game to not use minor league it should switch to reserve rooster so all your minor players should be part of your organization... I think.

I started testing this earlier in the day as soon as I saw David Watts' post... This part went as expected...

By turning off historical minor leagues it doesn't change the relationship between the majors and their affiliates. Rather, the relationships stay the same. IOW, the Dodgers still have OKC and their PCL affiliate, Great Lakes in the Midwest League, and so forth... The players appeared to stay with their organizations. Although in my test, where I had historical txns enabled, a bunch of minor leaguers - those who did not appear IRL in the 2020 majors - were inactivated for the year...

Also, for the first day of the 2019-2020 (Nov 2019) offseason, pro rookies are imported to the game. I don't know where they were imported to. Presumably to their actual historical teams.

At any rate, with so many players inactivated I doubt I can test this any further. One thing that's clear to me, though, is that it would take a pretty deep and comprehensive test to be sure everything is covered. But it seems like it would work.

It was some time ago, but I remember a post(I think it was Tiger Fan) in which he detailed a way that one could have the game import the minor league players each season, but not the minor league teams/structure. This would be useful for folks that wanted to create their own minor leagues instead of using the historical ones.
