All I can say is thank you for the countless hours of enjoyment. To this day I'm not sure what type of player I am? Sometimes I'm a world builder, a writer, a gm only, a manger playing out games or a tester. In short, there are so many ways to enjoy this creation of yours and it still delivers after all these years. Congratulations on a remarkable career and I wish you much happiness and success in your future endeavors. Cheer!

Markus, thank you for creating the masterpiece that is OOTP. I found the game in 2002/version 4 and couldn't believe I would be able to import my game into each new version. The game I started then is the game I still play now in v25. I've managed every inning of every game over 44 seasons, soon to start season 45. I'd hate to guess how many thousands of hours I have put into my game.

While I hate to see you go I have no doubt that Matt and the rest of the team will carry on without missing a beat. Hey, they had a great teacher, .

I guess it was always going to happen one day, just didn't think it would be today. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do next.

Thanks for all the kind words and good wishes guys. I really appreciate it! It still feels a bit unreal, 27 years is a really long time.

Thank you, Markus, for your vision and creation. The worlds I've constructed in your OOTP creation are as real to me--sometimes even more--than real-life baseball, and I feel no shame or embarrassment in saying that. You've created something that's given me a chance to immerse myself in worlds I've made, nurtured, occasionally despised (like when my closer gives up a bottom-of-the-ninth, 2-out, 3-run homer that costs me the series) but always loved (like then my closer strikes out the batter and my little baseball guys rush the field and I cheer along with them). Thank you, thank you, thank you.

A lot has changed in my life since I found OOTP a little over a decade ago, but one of the constants is OOTP. What a wonderful gift you've given us! Enjoy the retirement!!!

as George Harrison said "All Things Must Pass" .....

an incredible product you started - here's hoping it continues at the same level with different leadership.

Marcus - all the best as the future unfolds. You'll be missed, no matter who takes over your role going forward. Thanks for an incredible game!

Thanks so much for what you've done with this game Markus. It's been a blessing for many of us here. I catch myself all the time more concerned about upgrading my pitching staff or making a trade for a hitter than I am with real world problems. This is a good thing! Thank you so much I wish continued success for you and the game!

Thank you, Markus, for the countless hours of joy you've brought me by bringing my Expos back to life since I first discovered OOTP2007 all those years ago. I’ve rarely missed a yearly release since then. Wishing you all the best in your future projects!

Thank you, Markus, for wasting countless hours of my life worrying about imaginary baseball players and causing me to dive ever deeper into a world even geekier than Fantasy Baseball. OOTP has been a daily hobby of mine since OOTP4 and it has been your dedication to putting out the best product possible that has kept me engaged all these years.

I wish you all the best and am glad to hear you're doing what feels right for you. Wishing you all the best in whatever is next!

Markus,

What you have built was and is amazing. No doubt OOTP will continue to be in great hands! I've only been around the last 8 years or so, but this game has been umpteen thousands of hours of enjoyment.

THANK YOU for all you have done and best wishes in your next chapter. 🍻

Truly the end of an era! Even though it's been expected for some time now, it doesn't make it any more sad. OOTP is easily my favorite game and I can't begin to express enough gratitude towards the game you built from the ground up.

One thing that has to be said though, and I'm not sure enough people know it, but how much great work the rest of the dev team has been doing. Your baby is left in the truly wonderful and capable hands, and I'm excited and confident for the future of the game! I mean, the fact you're comfortable stepping away is such a glowing review on the rest of the team. It's amazing how far the game has come, and I know there's so much more we'll get to enjoy!

Markus, you've stolen away thousands of hours of my life and I couldn't be happier about it! Now's your time to ride off in the sunset, enjoy whatever is out there for you, and reap the rewards that this groundbreaking and gold standard sports sim has brought in. You've earned it, and then some! Best of luck in whatever lies next!

Wow!!! This is shocking and such sad news! I have been with this community since the beginning and have purchased OOTP every single year since the original was released. I thought this day would never come but I totally understand and wish Markus the best in his future endeavors. I sure hope OOTP continues to thrive and improve each and every year just like it has and does. Please keep an eye on this Markus and make sure this happens. This community will completely appreciate that!
