I am doing a historical 2005 save and in 2019 I noticed my AA team was missing (Frisco Roughriders). I saw other teams had this issue, but chalked it up as something that would be fixed in 2020. Although I understand this is a "COVID season", I am hoping there is a way to revert this so that I can avoid dealing with a lost season in the minors? If this is a bigger issue, then any help is always appreciated!

Well, as you know there was no minor league baseball in 2020 due to covid. So if you're doing a historical game with minors, OOTP is going to follow that actual history, and so there really isn't anything to fix.
What you could do: 1. Make copies of the milbleagues.csv, milbteams.csv, and era_stats_minors.txt files. 2. Edit those so the 2020 minors exist in them. (The easiest way to do this would be to just copy the leagues, teams, stats, etc., from 2019 and use those for 2020; thus, all affiliations would be identical to 2019, etc..., but there could be other approaches to this.) 3. Test it out before you commit your saved league to this... I don't really know what will happen to players at the end of the 2019 season. After testing you find that you need to make some tweaks to freeze organizations' rosters & so forth... It'd be like eliminating the strikes in '81 or '94: It's not really historical to do that, but it's possible. In this case the workaround is a bit more complicated (than removing the strikes; whereas the '81 & '94 workarounds pretty much involve only changing to where you're using the 'actual' rather than 'as played' schedules), but it's doable... Oh, and you'll most-likely need to play with 3- or 5-year recalc enabled, at least from before you hit the 2019-2020 offseason and through the end of the 2020 season... |

My issue that I have is that the year prior, it removed the league that Frisco was in for the 2019 season, which they did play in, and upon entering the 2020 season, because everyone is moved to reserve roster due to the covid season, when I try to re-sign all of my minor league free agents, even ones who haven't reached farther than A ball, they all decline and are "looking for major league contracts." This will undoubtedly be a large blow as many names are ones that are relevant to my depth and/or have weight in my system. I have not gone farther in my save to see what this impacts in terms of the overall save, however it does seem like the structure of how the game treats the Covid season is incredibly shoddy at the moment.
ALSO ( side note if any devs read this) from doing the historical save it is frustrating when a minor league team changes it's name, and it dumps all the players from that team into the AZL to have to reorganize, although I can sort it and figure it out somewhat easily, it feels unneccesary to a degree. |
