One wish, well maybe two.

Allow me to preface by saying that I am new to OOTP, and I am obsessed with this game. I have one main wish for in-game play. Please add the option for defense to throw to a specific base or position like we have the option on offense to send a runner home or to third on base hits. Too many times if I have a multi run lead with runners in scoring position, the outfielder will throw to get the lead runner allowing the batter to end up at second base. If I have a 5 run lead late in the game, I would like the option to let the run(s) score and hit a cut-off man to keep the runner at first to avoid having more runners in scoring position.
The second suggestion, not nearly as essential would be to make it possible to move the All-star game when building a custom schedule. I play a fictional league with 32 MLB teams and created a custom balanced schedule for it but can't move the All-star game.
Thanks for a great game and I look forward to playing many years to come.

You can move the all-star game already. You assign it a day in the schedule tag like:

Quote:
<SCHEDULE type="ILN_BGN_G162_SL1D4T4T4T4T4" inter_league="0" balanced_games="0" games_per_team="162" start_month="3" start_day="24" start_day_of_week="3" allstar_game_day="135">
I like your first suggestion too. So many times I think, "no, don't throw it there!". One problem is the visual representation of what is going on isn't always as close as it may have you think. So while you think the play is not close at all, it might actually be closer than it is making it look.

If the throw to a certain base option is added, please make it one hundred percent optional. I actually will not play a game if the option to take an extra base or throw to a certain base is not optional. Recently signed up for free trial of Dynasty League Baseball. After around 3 games, when I realized I could not turn those options off, I quit playing altogether. Sparky Anderson wasn't screaming at the top of his lungs from the dugout on a ball hit off the fence in right, calling for Kirk Gibson to throw the ball to 3B.

Stuff like this is fine, but it has to optional. It ruins a game if it's not.

Agreed.

I appreciate your sugestion about assigning a day to the allstar game. Unfortunately, being new to the game and somewhat computer illiterate, I have no idea what that means or where to find it and or put it. I was talking in terms of adding the ASG to the drop down menu where you create and adjust the schedule. Thank you.

Or to make it easier to code maybe "game date" could be added in that section so it would be added automatically to the schedule...

For what it worth and maybe you don't know since you are a new player... you can change the All Star Game day manually after the game set it in the schedule. Just make sure to do it during the pre-season (I have a feeling it could cause some problem if you wait too much to do the change).

Thank you so much for this! My screen looks different from that but I was able to find what you were talking about and I am able to change the date this way. Thanks again!

On this screen, if you uncheck "Automatically Schedule All-Star Game" you will be given the option to input a date of your choice.
