Historical Roster Sizes Changing

I am playing in 1926 the roster size was 14 players now 9 games into the season it jumps up to 17 players.

Pretty sure I noticed this in FHM 10 also is this supposed to happen

The only change I'm seeing in 1926 when I try it (both with 1926 and earlier starts) is the shift on opening night from an unlimited roster size (where "Number of Players" displays e.g. "15/-") to 17 ("15/17"). Are you sure you weren't seeing the 14-player limit on the number of dressed players? That's there all along. It's definitely set to 17 in the database, that's the smallest roster size for the NHL in any year.
