Devs should release it at fastspring first
If steam don't approve the page for fhm11 for now, why don't devs release it on Fastspring first?

I had asked this during the stream but they didn't see it apparently. I don't think they'd do that, but I'd support them if they did.
***just went live on Steam*** so no worries! Last edited by Savoie45; 10-17-2024 at 12:59 AM. |

Not an option. First, Valve *really* doesn't like it when a developer that's already on Steam gives another outlet a chance to sell the game before Steam can. That, however, wouldn't bother me enough not to do it, given the way we got jerked around this time. The real killer is that it would potentially lower the early sales on Steam, and that's a very, very bad thing - your visibility on there is heavily dependent on your initial sales and wishlists. If, we had, say, 20% of the usual early purchasers jump to the Fastspring version when they'd normally buy on Steam, that would damage our Steam sales well beyond that 20% loss, because fewer people would be seeing FHM11 in their recommendations.
But it turns out that it may be a moot point: Steam approved the store while we were doing the Twitch stream, so we're just waiting on actual game approval now, which should be by the end of this week unless Valve is completely breaking down (normal approval time for that is 3-5 days, we usually get it at the low end of that, we're now heading into day 7.) Release date is still set to October 25 in the internal Steam settings and we haven't been told we can't do that, so I'm cautiously optimistic that we're OK now. |
