Jacob degrom
How does Jacob Degrom become a 100 perfect card with 3 starts & 10 Innings? Mind-numbing to say the least. That's 3 1/3 inning per start. Money Money Money

Draw one and you won't care. You'll take the 20k and run with it!

Because that was the base card for him that was created for him at the beginning of the cycle, but he couldn't be released until he had innings.

essentially
His actual IP weren't enough, when blended in with his pre-season projection, to move the needle on his OVR.

So his 106.1 innings in last 3 years were ample enough I guess....Yeah I'm starting to see the reasoning for that...Less than 200 innings over last 4 season...average of 50 innings through 4 years of injuries...Yeah, I'm seeing it even more adding with he's 36

I do see the point, though. He's a 36-year-old who's been injured for most of the past four years. A sensible projection system would discount him much more heavily for age and lack of PT. ZiPS (especially) and Steamer (to a lesser degree) had him remaining godlike despite being projected to pitch less than 50 innings in 2024. He actually performed well in his 10 innings of work, so they were mostly correct in terms of in-game results but not very close on workload. Still, 10 innings pitched from mid-September on a team that was realistically out of the race (and with seven days' rest in between) doesn't say much except that he's still able to pitch at the top level.
Nonetheless, this is on the projection systems and not on OOTP. ZiPS, Steamer, and whoever/whatever else provide the templates. OOTP just follows along with these until actual results say different. |

Bunker does make a good point. Whether injured or not, he did not deserve a perfect for this season especially after 3 poor starts.

These are what you call poor starts?! If anything, it was his team that performed poorly after he left the game!

And if he kept it up for a longer period, he still would've been a Perfect. Look at his track record the last few years. Yeah, he was injured and missed time, but that doesn't matter when it comes to projections the last couple of years. The skills are still there, and he has shown that. Until he lays a big fat egg in a start, I see no reason to NOT call him a Perfect.
