I checked and saw what you meant... that happens when we use a picture when the cap is too low and the guy doesn't have much space between the eyes and the cap. I did some manipulations on a different picture of him...

That works!

Not sure why I had issues with him. Sometimes I get these huge fat faces and I can't resolve it.

Lans could you do Jim Hickman for me? No not the one who began his career in 62 (nothing hard to do him) but the one who started his ML career in 1916... he played four seasons in the Major (or five if you count the Federal League as a major league) so I think he is more important than the no career guys I ask about usually.

Try your hand at a younger Rickey Henderson? Current pic in the pack is from 90s, maybe even his Mets run. Looked aged.

Also looking for Frankie Thon, but don't have a good source for him.

I turn his face a bit, cut the pic in half, mirrored it for a full face, then used the sliders to get him back to align to the original photo as best I could. This was the result.

Thanks! It's better than a random game FG for sure.

Lans if you feel like it Lou bauer is another player with a picture I can't get result with (it's the same type of picture that the Hickman picture was).

One last request for the weekend; two coaches for the Blue Jays:

This is Bobby Cox from 1983. Pretty good source.

When I have tried to make it, comes out looking nothing like the source.

The other is Billy Smith.

Moses "Chief" Yellow Horse

I've reworked him but the upgrade compare to the current one in the pack isn't that major so I won't send him to Lans for the pack, but I post him here if you want the new FG for your game.

The top image is the current FG and the bottom is the upgrade...

Another player I'm having trouble finding in the various packs is Carlos Martinez (martica02 / martin005car) -- the third baseman, not either of the pitchers, both of whom I have found. Am I missing him, or has he just not been done yet?

I got a pic for him. I can do him, finish the turn-the-head guy for AESP and Bobby Cox later tonight. If I have time, I'll do the Blue Jays coach I owe too.

Lou Bauer

Lou Bauer was a local resident given a chance to pitch at age 19 on August 13, 1918, for the Philadelphia Athletics with the Washington Senators in town. Walter Johnson was the opposing pitcher for the Senators. Lou relieved Vic Keen, who had gone the first eight innings. He faced Ray Morgan and Howie Shanks, giving them both walks, and was then pulled in favor of reliever Willie Adams who (after a batter reached on an error), allowed Moran and Shanks to score on a single by Walter Johnson, who got three hits that day. Given that one of the two runs he allowed was earned, he is part of the small fraternity of pitchers with a lifetime infinite ERA. - bullpen wiki at BBR.

I had to play around to get a starting point that I could shape. But looking at the facegen software, I can see him. Asked Midjourney to turn the newspaper photo into a passport photo (which inherently got the mouth closed for me too).

Bobby Cox (Braves manager)

Before the HOF ceremony started, Tom Seaver was giving instructions on things to remember during the speeches. He said, “All right boys, don’t forget your wife’s name. Seriously, practice it right now.” Talking to Cox, he said, “Now, what’s your wife’s name?” “Pam,” Cox replied. “Don’t forget it.” Seaver said. Cox didn’t.

Former Brave Greg McMichael summed up Cox’s career: “Bobby Cox’s contribution to baseball was, building an organization to sustain winning, going from a manager to a general manager and how to lay the foundation for a team to restructure their farm system, develop players, draft and trade for players, and then go back to managing that core group of players and do something no other team has ever done. When he was managing, he always had the player’s back, never through anyone under the bus, didn’t blame individuals, and didn’t say things to the press about his players. He did what was best for the team.”

This is the Braves' Bobby Cox because I had never before done him. I have another for the Blue Jays one but the Atlanta one will be in the pack. The younger looking Cox is like some of the facial hair variants, just living on the board. As with all managers, I use the First_Last naming convention as their Historical Minors ID doesn't carry forward with them when they are managers (and you don't want him looking this old as a 1968 Yankee 3B).

Blue Jay tenure to follow

Bobby Cox (Blue Jays)

For the Blue Jays, I just used an older version of facegen that allowed me to soften his features. That and a little thinning of the face was enough for me to call it close enough, esp. since I liked the face of the elder version enough that I wanted its core features to hold. He's not that different in the end, but hopefully, enough so.

The file name is meaningless, and you'd need to rename this Bobby_Cox.fg for it to load.

Carlos Martinez (1988)

Offered the opportunity to wear a nickname as part of Major League Baseball's Players Weekend initiative, Jose Martinez chose not to don his given nickname, 'Cafecito,' but rather to highlight another.

This weekend, Martinez is "Café," just as his father once was. Martinez's father, Carlos, was branded with a coffee nickname just like all of his brothers. There was Mocha, Decaf, Cappuccino and Café -- nicknames coined by Carlos' father, who loved his coffee. Jose Martinez later became Cafecito, which translates to "Little Cup of Coffee."

Carlos Martinez, perhaps best remembered for hitting a home run off the head of Jose Canseco, played parts of seven seasons in the Major Leagues. He was also a star back home in the Venezuelan Winter Leagues, which is where Jose Martinez remembers watching his dad most on the baseball field.

Martinez said he's heard from friends and family back in Venezuela about how excited everyone is to see him bring attention to his father, who passed away in 2006 after a lengthy battle with cancer. Many of them also insist they see a lot of Carlos Martinez in the son he left behind. - mlb.com

Thanks! The AI sure did a great job on that picture!

All that work for a guy who was deleted in my current simulation because the game didn't use him when I add him to the rooster the only day he was in the major league

You are a scholar and a gentleman. I appreciate your assistance with these coaches.

I've almost completed my back that comfortably covers all notable managers and coaches from the 70s-90s.

Phew. It's an undertaking. Most I'm able to do myself, some are just "passable" but some guys I either can't do (like Billy Smith above with the glasses) or I can't make them look good enough (like Bobby Cox) and since I intend to use them...

Billy Smith (coach)

Billy Franklin Smith, aged 94, peacefully passed to the Lord on July 7, 2024. His wife of nearly 74 years, Joyce Loftin Smith, was by his side at their home.

Billy was born on January 14th,1930, to Austin and Treva Smith. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, and a grandson, Carlos Lopez IV. He leaves a living legacy through his four children, Billy Jr. (Barbara), Treva Osborne (Chuck), Julie Lopez (Carlos), and Suzie Weast (Paul). He was the proud grandfather of Amy, Scott, Greg, Mark, Stephanie, Erin, Lindsay, Lauren, and Carlos and the great-grandfather of 15 lovely young people. Special caregivers for the past 2 years, YaShima Reyes and Nettie Garland, also became like family members as they cared for Billy. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all of his family.

Billy was a lifelong baseball man. Over his 38-year career he played, managed, scouted, and coached professional baseball. He was associated with the Atlanta Braves, the Houston Astros, and the Toronto Blue Jays. His job allowed him and Joyce many opportunities as well as the privilege of meeting and making wonderful friends all over the country.

In his retirement Billy and Joyce enjoyed traveling, family, and the joy of lake life in the log cabin that he built at Lake Tillery. Bill's unwavering Christian faith, his strong work ethic, his honesty, and his dedication to God and family endeared him to everyone who knew him. - www.cumbyfuneral.com

I used a different picture. Came out younger than your picture, I think but I couldn't pass up a more straight-on shot of the face.
