Normally, I am content to just grouse about AI issues but this one seemed worth a bug report.
I've uploaded a zip file called "CyYoungWinnerUnprotectedDatFiles.zip' which includes all of the dat files for my save except faces.dat. I hope that's all you need if you decide to look at it.
I think the issue that sort of rankles me is that the game's AI very clearly says "Pat Jarvis is the best pitcher in the league" and gives him the Cy Young Award. In addition, the AI that builds the roster says Jarvis is the team's #1 starter.
Then two days later the game's AI says he's not good enough to protect in the expansion draft. I'm guessing that there are two different routines for assigning awards and creating protection lists, but still... this seems a little too extreme of a disconnect.
It seems to me that, at a minimum, the AI should always be protecting what it currently projects to be its 8 starting position players and 5 starting pitchers. That's already being evaluated in the game when it builds lineups and rotations.
My grumbling post with the in-game details is here:

For the time, I can work around this because commissioner mode will allow me to review and edit the protection lists for the various teams. But obviously this is a pretty cumbersome workaround so hopefully you guys will be able to find time at some point to look at this.
If you want to recreate the selection process easily within the save, just go to 'Submit Protection List' and select the Tigers. You will see that Pat Jarvis (the CY winner) is not on it. Remove the last player, Stan Perzanowski, and click "Ask AI". That will retrigger the AI selection and you'll see Jarvis getting skipped over.
