Exclamation College Baseball Discovery

That's right! Another innovation in the way of developing the college and caribbean/mexican league idea.

People were worried about the players getting talent bumps/hits in the college league. I just figured out that if you set the league as a "Replay" that none of the ratings will be affected.

I've also been working on the concept of having actual MLB financial figures work in ootp (which is why I stopped updating my web site). With all the Tampa Bay signings and John Rocker to New York in my league, I decided to refine it a bit. So far so good. I even had Gary Sheffield sign a 4-year $72 million contract with the Yankees one time. And somehow, quite a few players signed with their hometown teams.

I've never used "replay" option. So you are saying ratings and talents stay the same all season long if you have "replay" in place?

Surely you would want to get them talent hits and bumps, so they could develop over their four years. Similarly with the foreign leagues -do you sign them young, or when they are proven? Will them not aging not also lead to a deadlock in which the same players play year after year?

Nonsense. College players don't develop because they use aluminum bats.

Yes, according to the caption that appears at the bottom of the screen when you put the cursor on the Replay/Career button in league settings, "players will not age or develop."

The college league I proposed in a previous thread only simulates the college player's senior year. So from March to June, the player would not change talent or rating wise. This way, the players would be the same quality as if you just generated them in the default league. Only this way, you can actually see how the player performed against his peers.

If I ever do start a league, I'd probably make it so that GMs would have to scout statistics in order to draft players and they wouldn't be allowed to see their ratings. This brings the element of research to the amateur draft which, IMO, is greatly needed.

Ha!
All of the independent leagues I plan to have in my solo league (college, Mexican, and Japanese) all reflect their actual statistics. The college league's average is around .296 and they don't hit as many HRs while the Mexican league's average is around .288 with a lot of walks and fewer strikeouts.

So does this squash everybody's doubts about a college league actually working? Anybody have any criticisms or comments because I'm always open to them.
